Arena Stage and Georgetown University's Theatre and Performance Studies Program will present a special presentation of Will the Circle Be Unbroken: Death, Rebirth, and Hunger for a Faith,a performance honoring the life and work of life and work of Studs Terkel, on December 7, 2009 at Georgetown University's Gaston Hall.

LOMBARDI, a new play by Oscar winner and Steppenwolf Theater Company member Eric Simonson, is based on the best-selling biography When Pride Still Mattered, by Pulitzer Prize winning author David Maraniss. Opening on Broadway in the fall of 2010, this original work will bring the audience into the life and times of one of America's most inspirational and mercurial personalities, Hall of Fame football coach Vince Lombardi.

Yesterday evening marked the 41st annual Jeff Equity Awards Ceremony, honoring productions and production companies for excellence in Chicago-area theater. The ceremony took place at at the Skokie's North Shore Center for the Performing Arts.

The Jeff Awards have announced 179 nominations in 35 categories for Chicago Equity theatrical productions which opened between August 1, 2008, and July 31, 2009.

A Special Jeff Award will be presented to director/producer William Pullinsi at the Jeff Awards Ceremony, October 19th, in recognition of his 50 years in theatre. The Second City will receive a Tribute Award in honor of their 50th Anniversary. Stoneham Theatre's Season 10 begins by looking back-way back-to The Greatest Generation. Studs Terkel won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction in 1985 for The Good War, an oral history of World War II. David H. Bell and Craig Carnelia have adapted Terkel's work for the stage, combining stories of common people with popular music from the WWII era.
