Mary Chapin Carpenter to Perform with the New York Philharmonic, 2/28-3/1

Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter will make her New York Philharmonic debut in Mary Chapin Carpenter with the New York Philharmonic and Special Guests, a retrospective program featuring songs from throughout her career, some newly arranged for orchestra.

Now in its 16th season, Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook will continue to expand its scope celebrating the best in American singing and songwriting. New this year, the opening night concert will befree, in the David Rubenstein Atrium, on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. 'Live From Lincoln Center,' the Emmy Award-winning program broadcast nationally on PBS stations, will shoot four of the first week's American Songbook concerts in The Allen Room: by James Naughton, Lawrence Brownlee, Jason Isbell, and Patina Miller. These performances will be broadcast nationally beginning in Spring 2014. In addition, American Songbook concerts taking place in the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse at Lincoln Center will be live-streamed via http://watch.lincolncenter.org.

Elvis Costello Plays Merriam Theater Tonight

Elvis Costello embarks on SOLO East Coast U.S. Tour with Philadelphia Stop at Merriam Theater tonight, November 10 at 8 p.m. Costello's performance includes new work from Wise Up Ghost (released September 17, Blue Note Records), the collaborative album of Costello and The Roots, produced by longtime Roots associate Steven Mandel along with Costello and ?uestlove.

Chris Thile to Return to Zankel Hall, Dec 16

On Monday, December 16 at 7:00 p.m. in Zankel Hall, the Carnegie Hall Notables-a membership and ticket program for music enthusiasts in their 20s and 30s-hosts Chris Thile and Friends, a special Notables-only performance featuring mandolin virtuoso, composer, and vocalist Chris Thile alongside frequent collaborators Michael Daves and Edgar Meyer and additional artists to be announced.

Garth Fagan Dance to Return to Joyce Theater, 11/12-17

Garth Fagan's love of strong women is front and center in "No Evidence of Failure," which receives its world premiere when Garth Fagan Dance returns to The Joyce Theater, November 12-17. The two-program season also features the world premiere of "Gin," marking Norwood Pennewell's third work for the company. The season's revivals include Fagan's 1983 classic "Easter Freeway Processional" and "Senku," whose music will be played live by concert pianist William Chapman Nyaho. Also slated for Fagan's New York season are sections from last year's hit "Lighthouse/Lightning Rod," as well as Fagan's perennial opener "Prelude: Discipline is Freedom"

Kimmel Center to Host Master Class with Mandolinist Chris Thile, 10/23

Kimmel Center hosts a Master Class with mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile of The Punch Brothers. The workshop provides 25+ students of Philadelphia area schools the opportunity to learn alongside 2012 MacArthur Fellowship 'Genius' award winner Chris Thile. The master class is set for tomorrow, Wednesday, October 23, 5pm-6pm in the Innovation Studio at Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Broad and Spruce Streets, Philadelphia, Pa.

Mandolin virtuoso -composer -vocalist Chris Thile,of Punch Brothers, returns to Philadelphia to perform new works from his recent album release,Bach: Sonatas & Partitas, Vol. 1 (Nonesuch Records, August 2013) on October 23 at 7:30 p.min Perelman Theater. One of the most inventive musicians of his generation, Thile's Philadelphia performance explores progressive bluegrass, classical, rock and jazz music genres that transcends boundaries, and highlights his latest compositions.

MacArthur Fellow Chris Thile to Play Columbus' Southern Theatre, 10/14

Mandolin virtuoso and composer Chris Thile, a multiple-Grammy Award winner and a MacArthur Fellow, has long been known as an audacious improviser and a tireless collaborator whose work has incorporated bluegrass, folk, rock, jazz, and classical elements. Besides his brilliant bandmates in Punch Brothers, his fellow travelers have also included pianist Brad Mehldau, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, guitarist Michael Daves, and double bassist/composer Edgar Meyer, among others. On this new program, he draws from his new Bach recording, while also exploring his own compositions and contemporary music.

Mandolin Player Chris Thile to Perform at Zankel Hall, 10/22

On Tuesday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall, Carnegie Hall presents mandolin virtuoso, composer, and vocalist, Chris Thile-of the ensemble Punch Brothers-in a program that features Bach's sonatas and partitas for solo violin played on the mandolin, along with original compositions and contemporary music. Thile's recording of three works by Bach-Sonata No. 1 in G minor, Partita No. 1 in B minor, and Sonata No. 2 in A minor-was recently released on his recording Bach: Sonatas and Partitas, Vol. 1 on Nonesuch Records. The record was produced by Thile's friend, mentor, and frequent collaborator, the double bassist and composer Edgar Meyer.
