EMPIRE Takes Over Canberra Beginning Tonight

After rave reviews, sold out performances and standing ovations in New York, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, Spiegelworld will bring its all-new show EMPIRE to Canberra, pitching its opulent spiegeltent at Civic Square for a limited season from tonight, October 10 2013.

Following in the success of the 2012 PBS TV special 'Keola Beamer: M?lama Ko Aloha' ('Keep Your Love') and Grammy-nominated CD, the key elements of that performance are being brought to the live stage at the Harris Center/Three Stages. Hawaiian slack key master Keola Beamer, Native American flutist/nine time Grammy-nominee R. Carlos Nakai, jazz pianist Geoffrey Keezer ('a musician's musician,' Sting), and kumu hula (hula master) Moanalani Beamer join together to share their unique talents.

Chris Botti Launches 2013-14 Season at New York Pops Tonight

Tonight, October 4, 2013, The New York Pops orchestra will launch its 31st Season at Carnegie Hall with An Evening with Chris Botti. Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke will lead the orchestra in a highly-anticipated opening with America's largest-selling instrumental artist, trumpeter Chris Botti. The performance will include selections such as Chopin's 'Prelude in C Minor,' 'Emmanuel,' and 'When I Fall in Love' from his recent Grammy Award-winning album Impressions, as well as other popular favorites, at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage.

Bellydance Superstars to Perform DANZARA at Harris Center, 10/14

Hailed as the next big dance phenomenon since Riverdance, the Belly Dance Superstars present a distinctive fusion of Tribal, Egyptian, and Cabaret dance, transporting the audience to a distant time and place while ushering this ancient art form into the present. The brainchild of Miles Copeland, former manager of Sting and The Police, over half a million people saw them for the first time on the 2003 Lollapalooza tour. Since then, the troupe-the only touring company of its kind- has performed over 800 shows in 20 countries, including at the famed Folies Bergere in Paris. "Sheer genius!" (Village Voice).

Louise Pitre's Autobiographical Musical ON THE ROCKS- STIRRED NOT SHAKEN Opens at Theatre Passe Muraille, Now thru 9/28

Louise Pitre's latest accomplishment is the completion of her one-woman show 'On the Rocks- Stirred Not Shaken.' Her show is an autobiographical musical detailing her life thus far- both the ups and the downs. Pitre, with the help of W. Joseph Matheson, wrote original songs for the show. 'On the Rocks' will run from tonight, September 25-28 at Theatre Passe Murialle.

Sting Takes Part in THE LAST SHIP Concerts to Benefit the Public Theater, Now thru 10/9

The Public Theater previously announced that, for the first and only time, Sting will perform songs from his new album, The Last Ship, for 10 concerts to benefit The Public Theater in their intimate, 260-seat Anspacher Theater from tonight, September 25 - October 9. An evening of music and storytelling with one of the world's most prolific artists, these performances will offer unique insight into the creative process of both his new album, released yesterday, September 24, and his forthcoming play of the same name, premiering in 2014. All proceeds benefit The Public Theater and are tax deductible.
