Motown the Musical rocked into Overture Center in Madison on Tuesday night with an abundance of talent and energy delivering the memorable Hitsville, USA classics. This Berry Gordy biopic covers his life as a young boy striving for more, to a man borrowing money from his family to build a recording empire that changed history. The production culminates with the twenty-fifth anniversary celebration of Motown.
Due to popular demand, The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and Hidden Beach Experiences announce the addition of a second free Unwrapped Live! concert, taking place on Saturday, March 12 at 10:30 p.m. in the Walt Disney Theater. The first concert of the night remains at 7:30 p.m at the venue in Downtown Orlando. Both performances will be broadcast live on the Dr. Phillips Center lawn. Guests arriving after the Walt Disney Theater capacity is reached for each show are invited to watch these live outdoor broadcasts.
The West End production of Motown the Musical is now in previews at the Shaftesbury Theatre, with press night on 8 March 2016. With music and lyrics from the legendary Motown catalogue and book by Motown founder Berry Gordy, Motown the Musical is directed by Charles Randolph-Wright. ECLIPSED marks a historic moment on Broadway: the first time the cast, director, and playwright are composed entirely of female artists, fitting for a production that so stunningly chronicles the experiences of a group of very resilient women.
