Performances are free and open to the public and held Tuesdays thru Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 7pm; with one matinee on Saturday, July 26 @ 3pm. (Press performance is Wednesday, July 30 at 8pm). Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) will celebrate its 20th year serving the community in 2015. It will kick off its anniversary season on September 19, 2014, with a once-in-a-lifetime gift to the City of Boston - Shakespeare at Fenway. Commonwealth Shakespeare Company's New Theatre in the Rough presents Free Staged Reading of Richard III, featuring Jeffrey Donovan

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) will debut Theatre In The Rough with a script-in-hand reading of William Shakespeare's Richard III featuring Jeffrey Donovan of USA's Burn Notice. The reading will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 (7pm) at Babson College's Sorenson Center for the Arts, 231 Forest St, Park Manor South, Wellesley, MA. The reading is free and open to the public. A $50 per person donation includes VIP seating for the reading and admission to a private reception (10pm) with the cast at the Glavin Family Chapel at Babson College. Space is limited. Steven Maler, Founding Artistic Director of Commonwealth Shakespeare Company and Associate Artistic Director, Adam Sanders, will direct with Boston Landmark Orchestra's Music Director Christopher Wilkins, conducting. The free event will be held tonight, August 21st at 7:00PM at DCR's Hatch Shell on the Esplanade.
Commonwealth Shakespeare Company Receives NEA's 2013 'Our Town' Grant

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced 59 Our Town grant awards totaling $4.725 million and reaching 34 states in the Our Town program's third year of funding. Commonwealth Shakespeare Company is the only Boston-based organization to receive a $100,000 matching grant to fund 'Shakespeare OFF the Common,' an innovative three-part arts program created in collaboration with the Mayor's Office of Arts, Tourism and Special Events to foster community interaction.

Shakespeare's words come alive again in the reading of Richard II for the 12th Annual Shakespeare and the Law Series. Co-sponsored by Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, law firm McCarter & English LLP, the Boston Lawyer's Chapter of the Federalist Society, and Suffolk University, the reading boasts an all-star cast from Boston's legal community, including former federal judge Nancy Gertner as Richard II. A panel discussion on the legal and political consequences of when a king or a president goes too far follows the reading. The participants will discuss the uses and abuses of executive power by Presidents Obama and George H. W. Bush.
