Chelsea Opera to Present BENDING TOWARDS THE LIGHT, Featuring Deborah Voigt, 12/20

Metropolitan Opera star Deborah Voigt is the special guest in Bending Towards the Light ... A Jazz Nativity.  Chelsea Opera joins forces with Kindred Spirits, Inc. to present this fresh and dramatic telling of the Christmas story.  WQXR's Terrance McKnight and WBGO's Sheila Andersonco-host this 30th anniversary production of Bending Towards the Light ... A Jazz Nativity, featuring jazz greats Ingrid Jensen, Steve Wilson, Wycliffe Gordon, and 93-year-old Latin congo player, Candido.  Performances take place at Christ and St. Stephen's Church, 120 West 69th Street in NYC, on Sunday, December 20 at 5 pm and 8 pm.  Tickets range from $25 to $50, available online and at the door (cash/check only).

Sandy Hackett's RAT PACK SHOW Set for Bucks County Playhouse

BUCKS COUNTY PLAYHOUSE - Commencing another successful touring season, currently in its 7th year, the hit show, Sandy Hackett's Rat Pack Show (http://www.sandysratpack.com), opens at the Bucks County Playhouse on October 6th and runs through October 18th. The South Bend Tribune writes of the show's producers and stars Sandy Hackett (son of legendary comedian, Buddy Hackett) and Lisa Dawn Miller (daughter of legendary songwriter, Ron Miller), "That personal attachment allows this husband-and-wife team to channel their childhood memories with credible insight into the four legendary personalities that no novice to the Rat Pack lore could pull off."

Adam Pascal to Perform at Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage, 9/26

Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage, Fairfield County's award-winning professional theatre company, will present an evening with Tony® nominee Adam Pascal, star of Broadway's 'Rent, 'Aida,' 'Memphis,' 'Cabaret' and 'Chicago' and numerous feature films including 'Rent.' The one night only event will take place on Saturday, September 26 at The Melissa & Doug Theatre at MTC, 509 Westport Avenue (behind the Jones New York and Nine West Outlet) in Norwalk, CT. Quality Hill Playhouse in Kansas City, Missouri announced their 2015-2016 season. Century of the Songbook explores 100 years of music. Producing Artistic Director J. Kent Barnhart has programmed four original cabaret revues and one Broadway revue, each highlighting songs of the musical tradition called the Great American Songbook. The Playhouse season focuses on contributions to the Songbook by first Americans, big band leaders, women songwriters, Broadway musicals, and folk singer-songwriters.

2015 New York Hot Jazz Fest to Kick Off May 3

Following the success of the previous two festivals, the 3rd Annual New York Hot Jazz Festival -- produced by the impresario Michael 'Misha' Katsobashvili, performer Bria Skonberg, and composer/producer Patrick Soluri (of Prohibition Productions and The Salon) -- returns to The Players this year and promises some of the biggest stars of the Hot Jazz and swing scenes in a summit of uptown and downtown talent spanning three generations.

Billy Childs Opens Segerstrom Center's 2014-15 Jazz Season Tonight

When composer/arranger/pianist Billy Childs was introduced to the music of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer-songwriter Laura Nyro at the age of 11, he was left with a powerful and lasting impression of Nyro's unique blend of Broadway-inspired melodies, jazz improvisations and socially conscious lyrics. Childs returned to that early experience for his latest project, creating and orchestrating his newest album, Map to the Treasure: Reimagining Laura Nyro. Orange County jazz fans will have the opportunity to hear Childs' loving homage to the late great Nyro at Segerstrom Center for the Arts tonight, October 17 at 8 p.m. in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

Phamaly Artistic Director Steve Wilson to End 14-Year Tenure

In a joint statement, Phamaly Executive Director Christopher Silberman and Phamaly's long-time Artistic Director Steve Wilson announced today that Wilson will be stepping down as Artistic Director of Phamaly Theatre Company, a position that he's held with Phamaly for 14 years. He will remain Artistic Director through December 31 of this year.
