The 2010 season at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre became the most successful in the theatre's history with more than 142,000 visitors across its sixteen-week run. Capitalising on the inimitable relationship between production and setting, Into the Woods became the highest-grossing single production at the theatre taking £1.2m in five weeks, whilst The Comedy of Errors became the most successful Shakespeare play. Arthur Miller's The Crucible, attracted a whole new audience to the theatre: 72% of those who attended the play had never been to the venue before. Steve Marmion's production of Macbeth, re-imagined for ages six and over, achieved the highest footfall for a family show.

Regent's Park Open Air Theatre announced today that Dame Judi Dench will feature as the voice of the Giant in its new production of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods. Dame Judi, who is also a patron of the 1,240 seat theatre, last performed on the Regent's Park stage in Sweet Mister Shakespeare in 1976 and directed Romeo and Juliet and Taming of the Shrew in 1993 alongside Toby Robertson. Dame Judi will record her part in late July.

Olivier award-winning playwright Simon Stephens' powerful new play Punk Rock opens at the Lyric Hammersmith on 08 September 2009 with previews from 03 September 2009. Sarah Frankcom, the Co-Artistic Director of the Royal Exchange, Manchester will direct a talented, young cast which includes Nicholas Banks, Henry Lloyd Hughes, Harry McEntire, Jessica Raine, Tom Sturridge, Katie West and Sophie Wu.
