Olney Theatre Center Adds Limited Run Of 2 PIANOS, 4 HANDS

The comedy 2 Pianos 4 Hands has been added to the current Olney Theatre Center schedule as a special event for a limited run on the Historic Stage, May 8 - 24, 2020. Written and originally performed by Ted Dykstra and Richard Greenblatt; Jefferson McDonald and Matt McGloin take the stage for this production to portray Ted and Richard from their very first piano lessons as they strive to become professional concert pianists. Directed by Tom Frey, each actor plays a piano in this comic look at what happens when we chase our dreams and come up short. At a press conference held May 28 in the Davies Takacs Lobby of the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 282 nominations for the 40th Anniversary Dora Mavor Moore Awards, which recognize excellence in professional theatre, dance and opera in Toronto. The Pigeon King is a collaboration featuring original music all created by The Company. Directed by Severn Thompson, the show plays from August 9 to September 23. It's a country parable for our times, reminding us that what takes flight always comes home to roost.

Michael Healey's New Work 1979 to Begin This Weekend at Shaw Festival

After making a stop in Ottawa, Michael Healey's razor-sharp politically charged satire 1979 begins previews in Niagara-on-the-Lake on May 20. Several unplugged performances of the Eric Coates-directed production are scheduled at the Court House Theatre and Royal George Theatre before the production settles in the Jackie Maxwell Studio Theatre beginning October 1.
