Joan Baez celebrated her 75th birthday on Saturday, January 27 at New York's historic Beacon Theatre. The special event honored her legendary 50 plus years in music with an intimate, career-spanning live performance.
The Public Theater announced today that Stew and Heidi Rodewald will perform live with the on-stage band for THE TOTAL BENT, playing the guitar and bass, respectively. With text by Stew and music by Stew and Heidi Rodewald, the team behind the Tony Award-wining musical Passing Strange, which premiered at The Public in 2003, this world premiere musical is directed by Joanna Settle. Performances begin Tuesday, May 10 and continue through Sunday, June 12, with an official press opening on Wednesday, May 25.
Legendary singer-songwriter John Hiatt has been touring the country in support of his new album, Terms of My Surrender, and will play the South Orange Performing Arts Center May 1 at 7:30 p.m. in an acoustic concert that showcases his unique talents. He began his career as a songwriter in Nashville, but it quickly became apparent that not only was able to write great hits for others, he could perform them as well. 1987's "Have A Little Faith In Me" and "Thing Called Love" solidified Hiatt's career both as a songwriter in great demand, and a recording artist.

Spangler and The Spangler Group announced today that T Bone Burnett has joined the creative team of Happy Trails, the new Broadway-bound musical based on the life and career of American icons Roy Rogers and his wife Dale Evans. The music world legend will be writing the score (music and lyrics) for the musical, which will feature a book by Academy Award-winner Marshall Brickman (Annie Hall, Manhattan, Jersey Boys, The Addams Family) and direction by two-time Tony Award-winner Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys, Big River, Tommy). Due to a scheduling conflict, the previously announced songwriting team of Alan Menken (music) and Glenn Slater (lyrics) has departed the production.
