The Dramatists Guild of America has rescheduled their awards ceremony, postponed due to Hurricane Sandy, to Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at The Lambs Club in New York. The awards ceremony will be hosted by Lisa Kron and will feature a performance by Kenita Miller.

The Blank Theatre's Young Playwrights Festival is seeking submissions nationwide from playwrights 19 years of age and younger. The submission deadline is March 15, 2013. Winning plays will be presented by professional actors and directors in June, 2013 at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood, CA.

The 4th Street Theatre will present the New York Premiere of the critically acclaimed one-man show, The Play About The Coach, written and performed by Paden Fallis and directed by Tamara Fisch. The Play About The Coach runs from February 27 to March 17, 2013 in a limited engagement at the 4th Street Theatre, located at 83 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery in New York City. American Lyric Theater (ALT) has been awarded two grants of $15,000 each from OPERA America's THE OPERA FUND for Repertoire Development. Announced earlier today by OPERA America, the grants are for two operas in development at ALT: La Reina by composer Jorge Sosa and librettist Laura Sosa Pedroza; and The Long Walk, by composer Jeremy Howard Beck and librettist Stephanie Fleischmann based on Brian Castner's critically acclaimed book of the same name.

Stray Cat Theatre presents the Pulitzer Prize finalist Sons of the Prophet, written by Stephen Karam and directed by Ron May.

TheatreSquared will open Stephen Karam's bold, award-winning comedy Sons of the Prophet for a limited run in Northwest Arkansas in its first production since its critically acclaimed New York debut. Winner of multiple awards (including the 2012 Lucille Lortel and New York Drama Critics Circle awards for Best Play) and a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize in Drama, Sons of the Prophet is a contemporary comedy-drama that is 'soul-piercing' and "explosively funny" (The New York Times).

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded the Huntington Theatre Company $245,000 so that Huntington Playwriting Fellow Melinda Lopez (Sonia Flew, Becoming Cuba) can join the company's full-time staff as playwright-in-residence. The award is one of 14 residency grants at theatre companies around the US announced this month. Lopez will begin her residency on July 1, 2013.
