On April 8, 2016, at 8:00PM, The New York Pops took center stage at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage in The Music of John Williams: From Spielberg to Star Wars. Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke lead the orchestra in a celebration of the work of legendary film composer John Williams, with a strong focus on his collaborations with Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg. The orchestra breathed life into some of cinema's most iconic scores, including selections from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Jurassic Park. The concert also included a look at Williams' seminal scoring of the Star Wars films, from their beginnings in the 1970s to today's The Force Awakens. Before his retelling of the Witches of Oz in WICKED, composer Stephen Schwartz took on a contemporary retelling of some of the most popular Biblical tales known to Man. CHILDREN OF EDEN uses these stories and characters to strike a universal chord in all of us. Beautiful music, story, humor, and imagery remind us of Spring, filled with new life bursting all around. CHILDREN OF EDEN opens today, April 8th, 2016, playing until Sunday, April 17th, 2016 at the 1,800-seat Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks.

Today's big news: It's a big night for Broadway stars on TV - COLOR PURPLE's Jennifer Hudson performs on AMERICAN IDOL, and HAMILTON's Jonathan Groff and SHUFFLE ALONG's Savion Glover visit LATE NIGHT, plus DADDY ISSUES opens off-Broadway!

Producer John Yonover (Revonoy Productions) is presenting a private industry reading of a new comedy, The Cocktail Party Effect by Scooter Pietsch, on Friday April 8 at 2 PM in the Anne L. Bernstein Theater at The Theater Center at 210 West 50th Street in New York.

Today in 2007, The Pirate Queen opened at the Hilton Theatre (now the FoxwoodsTheatre), where it ran for 85 performances. The Pirate Queen is a musical written by Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil, best known for their adaptation of Les Miserables. It is based on the life and adventures of the 16th century Irish chieftain and pirate Grainne O'Malley, who was one of the last Irish clan leaders to resist the English conquest of Gaelic Ireland. The cast featured Stephanie J. Block as the title character and Linda Balgord, who was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for her performance as Queen Elizabeth I.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present NY1 theater journalist Frank DiLella, who returned to the Birdland stage with the fourth episode of his new talk show, 'Show Biz After Hours With Frank DiLella.' The event was taped in front of a sold-out house on Sunday, April 3, with very special guests Orfeh, Andy Karl, Mario Cantone, Dan Horn and Telly Leung. Scroll down for photos!

Good morning, BroadwayWorld! Because we know all our readers eat, sleep and breathe Broadway, what could be better than waking up to it? This weekend's big news: SUNSET BOULEVARD begins in London, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson returns to Broadway!

To celebrate the news, we're flashing back to some of our favorite past performances from the trio!

            Lincoln Center Theater, in association with Jujamcyn Theaters, has announced that Stephanie J. Block, Christian Borle, and Andrew Rannells will head the cast of its new production of William Finn and James Lapine's Tony Award-winning musical FALSETTOS.  FALSETTOS  begins previews Thursday, September 29, and opens on Thursday, October 27 at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48 Street).

Broadway's 40 theatres aren't the only places to catch performances from your favorite stars! Well after Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. The 5th Avenue Theatre presents the critically-acclaimed Broadway musical, A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN, beginning tonight, March 25, in Seattle.

This year's BROADWAY BACKWARDS (#broadwaybackwards) took the stage last night at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street, NYC), home to the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Kinky Boots. The evening is produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and benefits BC/EFA and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of New York. It is with great sorrow that the Board of Directors of Cabrillo Music Theatre announced today that it will suspend its productions at the conclusion of the 2015-2016 season, following the production of THE LITTLE MERMAID, running July 15-24, 2016.
