Tale of Vietnam Vet LONE STAR Extends Run at The Triad

 In April of 2017 at Wild Project in the East Village, a revival of James McLure's Lone Star, by NINE Theatricals, took the stage in New York City for only the second time since it's Broadway debut in 1979. The production was met with tremendous feedback and glowing reviews from New York City critics and audiences who had not before seen this lesser known work. With a demand for more shows, producers moved Lone Star, in May, to The Triad Theatre for a limited Off Broadway contract run.

Broadway Vet Robert LuPone Stars in THE VIOLIN at 59E59 Theaters

59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) is thrilled to welcome the world premiere of THE VIOLIN, written by Dan McCormick and directed by Joseph Discher. Produced by The Directors Company in association with ShadowCatcher Entertainment, THE VIOLIN begins performances on Thursday, September 7 for a limited engagement through Saturday, October 14. Press Opening is Tuesday, September 19 at 7 PM.

Chester Theatre Company to Present FOLK this Month

Brooklyn College Presents the 12th Annual Weasel Festival Hosted by the Public Theater

The Department of Theater at Brooklyn College is one of New York City's outstanding institutions in the training of theater artists. With the assistance of a generous grant from the Tow Foundation, the Department of Theater in conjunction with the MFA Playwriting Program, headed by co-coordinators Mac Wellman and Erin Courtney, will present the annual Weasel Festival, hosted by The Public Theater.

Stella Ader Studio Seeks Submissions for 10th Annual Resident Playwright

The Harold Clurman Playwrights Division, a program of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, is now accepting new play submissions. In the tenth annual search for a resident playwright, the division is calling for new dramatic works written exclusively by playwrights who identify as any of the following: Mexican, Muslim, African-American, immigrant, refugee, disabled, female or LGBTQ. The division is also seeking ensemble plays for casts of seven to ten female roles or gender neutral roles; all playwrights are welcome to apply with an ensemble play.
