Sex, drugs and chamber music! The Fountain Theatre continues its 20th Anniversary Season with the Los Angeles premiere of Opus by Michael Hollinger. This multiple award-winning, behind-the-scenes look at a 'high strung' string quartet stars Daniel Blinkoff, Jia Doughman, Gregory G. Giles, Christian Lebano and Cooper Thornton.

Furious Theatre Company remains in residence in the Carrie Hamilton Theatre for the Los Angeles premiere of boom by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, writer of Furious Theatre's much acclaimed, award-winning 2009 production of Hunter Gatherers. boom will preview on Wednesday, May 19; Thursday, May 20 and Friday, May 21 at 8 p.m. with an opening date of Saturday, May 22 at 8 p.m. and run through Sunday, June 20 at the home of Furious Theatre Company, the Pasadena Playhouse Carrie Hamilton Theatre, 39 S. Santa Monica Playhouse presents Actor's Repertory Theatre (ART) in the return engagement of the 'dazzling' (Daily Bruin) original Jewish musical, BACKSTREET, a passionate and whimsical portrait of life, love, and loyalty played out by a family of Backstreet Ladies in a house of Jewish 'working girls' in the New York ghetto, circa 1905. This gem from the Playhouse Jewish Heritage Program by the creators of the immensely popular Sholom Aleichem quartet of plays - Author! Author!, Because of You, The Clown Prince and The Great Fair - and part of the ongoing Santa Monica Playhouse (SMP) 50th Anniversary Celebration of Theatre, opens May 15, 2010.

St. Nicholas, by Conor McPherson, will run July 15 - August 8, 2010 on the Neuhaus Stage this summer opposite the ExxonMobil Summer Chills series production of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap.

The Blank Theatre Company's 18th Annual Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival has chosen twelve winning plays by teenaged playwrights, aged 14 -19 from six different states. The winning plays will be presented by professional actors and directors in the month-long Festival at The Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood beginning June 3, 2010.

The Modern Stage presents MIRACLE DAY, a new play written and directed by TOM SIME, Writer in Residence at 45 Bleecker in New York. This romantic comedy-drama is a bittersweet story about extreme happiness-and what comes after. The action is interwoven with an original rock score composed and played live by Vern Woodhead and Yana Davydova of the Brooklyn band The Epicures.

Actors Theatre's final production of the season, 'No Child,' will run on Stage West at the Herberger Theater Center from April 23-May 9. Nilaja Sun's critically acclaimed solo show gives us a glimpse of life in the New York City Public School System, complete with students, teachers, parents, principals, and even the security guard. This 2007 off-Broadway breakaway hit has been performed all around the country.

Diversionary Theatre will stage the musical play Moscow as the sixth and final show of their 2009-2010 season. Moscow is a musical play involving three men attempting to define who they are and why they are confined together in an abandoned theatre. While enduring their 'soul searching,' they make use of their time by playing sockball and by acting out various roles from Anton Chekhov's play The Three Sisters. While self exploration, relationship conflict and gay romance are part of the chemistry, Moscow amplifies universal and eternal questions: 'Who are we, Where are we, and Why are we here?'
