On Monday 20 November, The National Youth Theatre (NYT) hosted fundraising gala 'Chic to Cheek' atCaf de Paris, attended by current NYT performers, past alumni and VIP guests. The event raised over 100,000 which will continue to support The National Youth Theatre's ongoing projects.

Set in a city where the gap between the rich and poor widens every day, Coriolanus opens the RSC's Rome season in London. He is as much a myth as he is a man, and if he did live, he would have been around at the start of the 5th Century BCE - when Rome was building itself into a republic.

The River Street Theatre (RST), a project of The Park Theatre, will be presenting the Royal Shakespeare Company's (RSC) new production of CORIOLANUS on Sunday, November 12 and Wednesday, November 15 (both at 2 PM). The presentation is part of the RST's Stage2Screen Series.

A full-throttle war play that revels in the sweat of the battlefield, the RSC's production of Coriolanus transports us back to the emergence of the republic of Rome. Caius Martius Coriolanus is a fearless soldier but a reluctant leader. His ambitious mother attempts to carve him a path to political power, but he struggles to change his nature and do what is required to achieve greatness. In this new city state struggling to find its feet, where the gap between rich and poor is widening every day, Coriolanus must decide who he really is and where his allegiances lie.

Following the success of four previous West End REP Seasons, the NYT Rep Company will return to the Ambassadors Theatre for a fifth year in September with a brand new female-led adaptation of Jekyll and Hyde exploring women's roles and rights in Victorian society, by Evan Placey who wrote their 2015 hit Consensual. The second REP show, which marks an exciting new collaboration, will see NYT present Frantic Assembly's award-winning modern-day Othello under the direction of Frantic's Associate Director Simon Pittman. Some notable writers who received early commissions from NYT, such as James Graham (This House, Finding Neverland), Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and The Cursed Child) and Zawe Ashton have plays being showcased. 

RSC Artistic Director, Gregory Doran, announces today the winter 2017 season in Stratford-upon-Avon and reveals plans for RSC Next Generation, a new long-term talent development programme to give up to 100 young people each year from disadvantaged backgrounds the chance to develop a career in the theatre.

'I shook up the world.' So says young gun and new heavyweight champion Cassius Clay (shortly to become Muhammad Ali) in those heady moments after his shock defeat of Sonny Liston in February 1964. But a meeting that same night with three African-American friends of equivalent status - superstar crooner Sam Cooke, NFL hero Jim Brown and controversial preacher Malcolm X - leads to soul-searching about the definition of success, and how best men like Clay can represent their community in a divided nation.

Sope Dirisu will portray iconic boxer Muhammad Ali in Kemp Powers's play ONE NIGHT IN MIAMI, beginning tonight at the Donmar Warehouse.

How does one put words into the mouths of titans? It was something I struggled with mightily as I was writing One Night in Miami At times, I regretted even taking on the challenge of trying to speak in the voices of Muhammad Ali, Sam Cooke, Malcolm X and Jim Brown. But the importance of the special friendship between those men left me with a feeling of obligation to see my attempt through to fruition.
