Sony Classical is pleased to announce the release of the recording of one of the world's most famous classical music events: the 2015 New Year's Concert with the Vienna Philharmonic. One of the most distinguished conductors of our time, Zubin Mehta, returns to direct the 2015 concert, having already done so four times previously. On January 9, 2015, the live recording will be available exclusively at Amazon.com and ArkivMusic.com and as a download through all major digital service providers. The CD will be released nationwide on January 20. The DVD and Blu-ray will be available on February 3.

Bela Fleck to Perform with The Knights at Schimmel Center, 1/28

On Wednesday, January 28, banjo legend Béla Fleck will join Brooklyn's own innovative chamber orchestra, The Knights, at Schimmel Center at Pace University to kick off a seven-state East Coast tour. The concert features the title track of the orchestra's brand new album, being released on January 26 on Warner Classics, The Ground Beneath Our Feet, a group composition that was written collaboratively by the members of the ensemble and is named after the Baroque ground bass that inspired it. Additional repertoire includes Rossini (overture and Se il mio nome spaer voi bramate, both from The Barber of Seville) and John Adams (Chamber Symphony).

Grammy-nominated Matt Haimovitz, praised as a musical visionary in pushing the boundaries of classical music performance, and O'Riley, acclaimed for his engaging and deeply committed performances and known to millions as the host of NPR's From the Top, turn back the clock to record for the first time on period instruments – Haimovitz's Venetian Matteo Gofriller cello of 1710 set up with gut strings and an early 19th century tailpiece, and O'Riley with an 1823 original Broadwood fortepiano. The new recording on two SACDs is available internationally on February 1, 2015 on the PENTATONE Oxingale Series.
