Orleans Records to Release Compilation of Little Freddie King's First Two Albums

Fried Rice & Chicken is a new collection of Blues guitarist Little Freddie King's work for the Orleans label. The album features remastered songs and instrumentals from 1995's Swamp Boogie and its follow-up, 2000's Sing Sang Sung. This will be these songs first appearance on vinyl. Fried Rice & Chicken will also be available on CD, digital download and streaming services via Orleans on April 6.

Mark Hummel's Blues Harmonica Blowout Celebrates the Windy City

Now an annual musical event in Folsom, Mark Hummel's Blues Harmonica Blowout is a show no blues lover dares to miss. This year's all-star gathering will be a Chicago Blues Celebration, and the lineup is straight Windy City: Billy Boy Arnold (Muddy Waters), John Primer (bandleader and lead guitarist for Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon), Mark Hummel, Deitra Farr (vocalist; Chicago Blues Hall of Fame), Oscar Wilson (Cash Box Kings), R.J. Mischo, Billy Flynn, June Core, RW Grisby, and Bob Welsh.

Curated by Juan Michael Porter II, THE SERIES 2017 presents a versatile range of artistically provocative choreographers in contrasting programs of dance.  At each performance, one or two of the 12 guest companies will share the program with Michael Mao Dance in a set of works that run the gamut from social dance to jazz to contemporary ballet to abstract pieces marked by their German Expressionistic values. The common thread running through each company featured in THE SERIES  is the use of spectacular physical virtuosity to communicate fantastic ideas, June 6-11 at the Hudson Guild Theatre, 441 West 26th Street.

The Record Company will open for legendary blues guitarist B.B. King at his Segerstrom Center debut tonight, December 8 at 7 p.m. in Segerstrom Hall. The band is a rock/blues/roots trio based in Los Angeles and consists of Chris Vos (guitar, lead vocals, harmonica), Alex Stiff (bass, guitar, vocals), and Marc Cazorla (drums, pianos, vocals). Steeped in the classic sounds of Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker along with the raw rock 'n' roll of The Stooges and The Yardbirds, The Record Company has burst onto the scene in a very short time.

Helm - who played a variety of places here in Lancaster ---died following a long battle with cancer in April 2012 at age 71.
