American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) announced casting today for its upcoming world-premiere production of Brainpeople, written by OBIE Award-winning playwright and Academy Award-nominated screenwriter José Rivera and directed by 2007 OBIE Award-winner Chay Yew. Brainpeople plays at Zeum Theater January 30-February 16. Press night for the production is Saturday, February 2.

The Fire Dept will present an expanded and updated version of its acclaimed At War: American Playwrights Respond to Iraq, an evening of alternately moving, haunting, and funny material by noted and emerging American playwrights, woven together to present a kaleidoscope of views on the war.

As part of its eleventh year of producing innovative productions of classic plays, Greasy Joan & Co. presents the Chicago premiere of SUEÑO, an original adaptation of Pedro Calderon de la Barca's play Life's a Dream.

LAByrinth Theater Company (Co-Artistic Directors Philip Seymour Hoffman and John Ortiz and Executive Director Steve Asher) presents the first developmental production of the 2005-06 season, MASSACRE (Sing to Your Children) by José Rivera (The Motorcycle Diaries), directed by Kate Whoriskey. MASSACRE (Sing to Your Children) will begin performances on Wednesday, October 5th at the Public Theater (425 Lafayette Street) for 15 performances only through Sunday, October 23rd.
