American Lyric Theater, in partnership with MasterVoices, Presents THE HALLOWEEN TREE

American Lyric Theater (ALT) and Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Music Center, in partnership with MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale), presents The Halloween Tree on October 30, 2016 at 3pm in the Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Music Center, 129 W 67th Street, New York City.  Based on Ray Bradbury's classic novel that explores the origins of Halloween, composer Theo Popov and librettist Tony Asaro take us on an epic journey as a group of children search for their friend Pipkin, who has mysteriously disappeared on Halloween night.

Musical Theatre West Opens 2016-17 Season with Four-Time Tony Award-Winning Musical MEMPHIS

Musical Theatre West (MTW) opens its 2016-2017 season with Broadway's smash hit musical Memphis, at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center October 21 - November 6.  The winner of four Tony Awards, including 'Best Musical,' 'Best Original Score,' 'Best Book' and 'Best Orchestrations,'  is filled with roof-raising Rock & Roll, high-octane dancing, and an extraordinary tale of fame and forbidden love that sparked a cultural revolution.  

York Symphony Orchestra to Highlight Some of Music History's Most Famous Composers with A BAROQUE BEGINNING

The York Symphony Orchestra will present "A Baroque Beginning" on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center in York. Kicking off the 2016-2017 A Musical Journey Through Time Classical Series, the performance will highlight some of music history's most prolific composers including Bach, Handel and Vivaldi and feature a special performance by guest violinist Odin Rathnam on Vivaldi's iconic composition - The Four Seasons.

Get Set to Soar IN THE HEIGHTS at MCCC's Kelsey Theatre

The Big Apple has never felt more like a small town than in Lin-Manuel Miranda's hit musical "In the Heights." The Pennington Players proudly present this Tony Award-winning show at Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre Fridays, Oct. 14 and 21 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Oct. 15 and 22 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, Oct. 16 and 23 at 2 p.m. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on Oct 14. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Rachel Libeskind Exhibits her Original Work HOLY TRASH: MY GENIZAH

The American Jewish Historical Society (AJHS) today announced the opening of Holy Trash: My Genizah, a groundbreaking, new interactive exhibit by fine arts and performance artist Rachel Libeskind created especially for AJHS and crafted with texts and objects belonging to the AJHS collections. The exhibition at AJHS (15 West 16th Street), which explores a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Genizah - a storage area for worn-out Hebrew language holy books and papers - will open September 22 and run through December 2016.

Celebration Arts presents Sunset Baby, a new drama by Dominique Morisseau. Kenyatta Shakur is alone.  His wife has died, and now, this former Black Revolutionary and political prisoner, is desperate to reconnect with his estranged daughter who has adopted a life of crime.  If he truly wants to reconcile his past, he must first conquer his most challenging revolution of all - fatherhood. The play is a vibrant and witty look at the point where the personal and political collide.   The production features the acting talents of Andre Ramey, Tory Scroggins and Brooklynn Solomon.

American Lyric Theater Launches 2016-17 Season Featuring Three New Operas

American Lyric Theater (ALT) - founded by Lawrence Edelson in 2005 to build a new body of operatic repertoire by nurturing composers and librettists and providing an incubator for their collaborations - announces its 2016-2017 Season. The season begins with the InsightALT series, providing an insider's look at how new operas are made, featuring concert readings of operas in development at ALT, including The Halloween Tree, The Life and Death(s) of Alan Turing, and Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Fallen Giant. The season concludes with the return of the critically acclaimed ALT Alumni: Composers & Librettists in Concert, celebrating the success of prominent alumni of American Lyric Theater's innovative Composer Librettist Development Program.
