The Joyce Theater Welcomes Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca, Now thru 11/9

The Joyce Theater will present the return of Spain's most successful and authentic flamenco touring company, Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca, after three acclaimed engagements since 2011. Under the direction of Martin Santangelo, the company will present a program entitled Noche Flamenca y Antigona from tonight, October 29 - November 9.

World Premiere of Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenca's ANTIGONA Set for UW World Series This Weekend

In October, the UW World Series will present the world premiere of Antigona, a new work by Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca. Hailed by critics everywhere for its transcendent and deeply emotional performances, Noche Flamenca is one of the most authentic flamenco companies in the world today, and Soledad Barrio is its star. Now, in a unique creative partnership, this remarkable company joins with acclaimed American theater director Lee Breuer to create a new work, Antigona, based on Sophocles' ancient Greek heroine. Combining live music, song, and dance, Noche Flamenca's Antigona will bring the fiery, expressive nature of flamenco to one of the world's great tragedies in an evening-length work that promises to be both gripping and intensely moving. The work is conceived and directed by Martin Santangelo with choreography by Soledad Barrio, consulting direction by Lee Breuer, and visual and mask design by Mary Frank.

Decade Bash to Kick Off FirstWorks' 2014-15 Season

UW World Series to Feature Works from Israel, Mali, Ukraine & More in 2014-15 Season

The UW World Series brings Seattle audiences some of the most exciting artists and companies from around the globe. The tradition continues into the 2014-15 season with a stellar line-up of living masters and emerging talents curated by Artistic Director Michelle Witt in her third year of programming the Series. 23 artists and companies from over 21 countries will be represented, including Israel, Mali, Ukraine, Great Britain, Spain, France, Canada, Russia, Hungary, the USA, and the eleven countries that make up the Nile basin.

Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca to Return to Joyce Theater, 12/3-15

Returning this December, following two sold-out, acclaimed engagements in 2011 and 2012, Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca will take the stage of The Joyce Theater for an extended two-week season from December 3 - 15, with a program entitled Sombras Sagradas (Sacred Dreams). NEFA Awards $925K for New Dance Works

New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) has awarded $925,000 in National Dance Project (NDP) grants to support the development of new dance works that will tour the U.S. during the 2014-2015 season.
