Following well-deserved critical accolades for her previous engagements, Soledad Barrio and her astounding company, Noche Flamenca, return to The Joyce with Noche Flamenca y Antigona, a night of flamenco featuring a work enacted to excerpts from Sophocles' tragic tale that brings the fiery nature of flamenco to one of the world's great tragedies. In addition to Antigona, this year's program also includes three acclaimed pieces choreographed and directed by Artistic Director Martín Santangelo: Alegrías, a sizzling duet performed by Soledad Barrio and Juan Ogalla; La Plaza, a full-company piece; and Soleá, Soledad Barrio's brilliant solo. Again the company performs to the live music of astonishing musicians and vocalists who propel the dancers to an incredible height of drama and elicit cheers from houses of loyal fans.

Formed in 1993 by Bessie award-winner Soledad Barrio and Martin Santangelo, Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca tours around the globe. International performance highlights include regular seasons in New York City and performances in Europe, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Egypt, North America, Australia, and more.
