For the first time, the lobby of the Metropolitan Opera House will be open to the public, free of charge, on weekday mornings (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) beginning Tuesday, October 4 and continuing through the end of the opera season. Visitors to the Met can walk up the famous grand staircase of the opera house, admire the iconic crystal chandeliers, or step out onto the balcony overlooking Lincoln Center Plaza. Personal photography will be permitted in all public areas of the house, allowing tourists or locals to capture a picture of a classic New York moment. In addition, a large television monitor will give visitors a live look at what's happening on the Met stage, where rehearsals happen every morning for the 225 opera performances the company presents each season. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

The collection of Baroque arias arose from her pondering the question, in the wake of the 2015 terrorist attacks on Paris and Brussels, “In the midst of chaos, how do you find peace?” DiDonato hopes the album, out November 4 on Erato / Warner Classics, and concert presentation, with which she will tour 12 countries between November 2016 and June 2017, will help listeners answer the same question. Esteemed conductor Sir Simon Rattle concludes his two-season Perspectives series at Carnegie Hall this fall, leading four concerts with The Philadelphia Orchestra, Ensemble Connect, and the Berliner Philharmoniker. New York, NY - Sir Simon Rattle will conduct The Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys and Orchestra of St. Luke's in a special benefit concert to include Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughn Williams and Edward Elgar's Serenade for Strings on Sunday, September 18 at 7:00pm. The concert will be the last in a yearlong series of performances that have been offered at St Thomas Church Fifth Avenue in honor of Maestro John Scott who served as Organist and Director of Music for eleven years, and who died unexpectedly in August 2015. Proceeds from the concert will be used to create a Saint Thomas Choir School scholarship to assist choristers in need which will be established in John Scott's memory.

Israel's foremost chamber orchestra, the Israel Camerata Jerusalem Orchestra, makes its Sydney premiere performing two magnificent programs at City Recital Hall: Beyond All This on 18 September; and Remembrance on 20 September. The Sydney concerts are one of two stops on the orchestra's first tour of Australia and feature internationally renowned cello soloist Zvi Plesser.
