The New York Drama Critics' Circle today named Samuel D. Hunter’s A Case for the Existence of God best play of the 2021-22 season. The award for best musical went to David Lindsay-Abaire’s and Jeanine Tesori’s Kimberly Akimbo. The selections were made at the organization’s 86th annual voting meeting.

Signature Theatre has extended the world premiere of Samuel D. Hunter’s A Case for the Existence of God, directed by David Cromer (Tony Award-winner, The Band’s Visit) to May 29. The production, which opened on May 2, is running on The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 W 42nd St).

Washington, DC-area theatre productions will participate in the 2022 Spring Bucket Brigade, May 19-22, to raise funds and awareness for Theatre Washington’s Taking Care Fund, supporting local theatre makers.

A new play about the decades-long, tempestuous friendship between Dorothy Parker and Robert Benchley will receive an industry reading on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

Molière in the Park, in partnership with Prospect Park Alliance and LeFrak Center at Lakeside, will present a fully staged production of two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Richard Wilbur’s translation of Molière’s THE MISANTHROPE, directed by Molière in the Park’s Founding Artistic Director Lucie Tiberghien.
