Today, 106.7 Lite FM announced that Erik Altemus of PIPPIN, Ann Harada of Rodgers and Hammerstein's CINDERELLA, and a slew of other stage stars are set to kick off Broadway in Bryant Park this week. The 2013 program will present the best of Broadway, FREE to the public, on six consecutive Thursdays beginning this Thursday, July 11 at 12:30 p.m. on the Bryant Park Stage. Ghostlight Records announces that the Original Broadway Cast Recording of RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S Cinderella CD hits stores today, June 4.

CINDERELLA -- the Rodgers + Hammerstein musical now at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway) -- played its 100th performance on Wednesday evening, May 29. The cast celebrated with a cake from Carlo's Bakery, home of TV's 'Cake Boss.' The musical began previews on January 25 and had its official opening night on March 3. Written for CBS-TV in 1957, this production of Rodgers + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA marks the musical's first-eve Broadway production, now in its 5th month of performances. The Friday, May 31st broadcast of WNBC-TV/Channel 4's program 'New York Live' seen weekdays at 12:30 p.m. will feature a backstage interview with CINDERELLA stars Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana.

The company of RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA will enter the studio on March 18 to preserve the Original Broadway Cast Recording for Ghostlight Records. The Broadway premiere of the beloved romantic musical - currently running at the Broadway Theater - has been hailed as "Resplendent with a radiant score" by the Wall Street Journal, "Pure Magic" by the Associated Press and "A full-on romantic fantasy" by the New York Post. RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA has music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, a new book by Douglas Carter Beane and original book by Oscar Hammerstein II. The musical is directed by Mark Brokaw. Josh Rhodes is choreographer. Music adaptation, supervision and arrangements are by David Chase. Andy Einhorn is music director and conductor.

It could have been my head was cloudy from taking in everything new from tech, or maybe it was because I was trying so hard to learn my understudy roles, but when I saw on our daily schedule that we had a sitzprobe coming up I thought, 'Oh nice. It's our sitzprobe.' Considering I am privileged to help ORIGINATE a RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN MUSICAL on BROADWAY, my response to seeing sitzprobe on our daily schedule should have been something more along the lines of, 'AAaaaaaahhhhhsitzprobeaaaaaaAaaaaaaAAAHHHH!!!!!!!' (For anyone who doesn't know, sitzprobe, German for seated rehearsal, is the first time that singers get to sit down and make music with the orchestra.)

Bring It On: The Musical will play the final performance of its limited engagement today, December 30, 2012, after 21 previews and 173 regular performances at Broadway's St. James Theatre. Rehearsals for RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S Cinderella will begin Thursday, December 6 with preview performances starting January 25 prior to Opening Night on Sunday, March 3. (The previously announced opening date of February 24 turned out to be Oscar Night.) The box office at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway at 53rd St.) will open Monday, December 17 at 10 a.m.

The new musical comedy Bring It On: The Musical produced by Universal Pictures Stage Productions/Glenn Ross, Beacon Communications/Armyan Bernstein and Charlie Lyons and Executive Producers Kristin Caskey and Mike Isaacson will resume performances in the wake of Hurricane Sandy at The St. James Theatre (246 W. 44th Street) on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 7pm.
