NBC Shares Primetime Schedule for 4/23-5/20

Lou Volpe, the retired theatre education pioneer was recently inducted into the prestigious Bucks County Playhouse Hall of Fame, following such honorees as Angela Lansbury, Oscar Hammerstein and Shirley Jones. A formal ceremony was held on April 14 at the historic playhouse. Volpe, whose career is the inspiration behind "Rise," the new TV series on NBC, was heralded for his life's work as a high school drama teacher at Harry S. Truman High School in Levittown, PA. During his tenure there, he transformed this Bucks County community with the magic of theater.

From Jason Katims, executive producer and showrunner of 'Friday Night Lights' and 'Parenthood,' and 'Hamilton producer' Jeffrey Seller comes a heartening new drama about finding inspiration in unexpected places. When dedicated teacher Lou Mazzuchelli (Josh Radnor) sheds his own self-doubt, and takes over the lackluster theater department and its ambitious plans for a school production of 'Spring Awakening,' he galvanizes not only the faculty and students but also the entire working-class town.

Today, Atlantic Records has unveiled another brand new cast recording of one of the songs that will be featured in next week's episode of 'Rise,' NBC's new drama series from the producers of 'Hamilton,' 'Friday Night Lights' and 'Parenthood.' An exclusive rendition of 'My Junk' by the 'Rise' cast is now available at all DSPs and streaming services.

Gillespie and “The Song Of Purple Summer” by the “Rise” cast, featuring the voice of Amy Forsyth – both exclusive renditions of songs originally featured in the Tony Award-winning musical, “Spring Awakening” - are available now at all DSPs and streaming services.

Josh Radnor stops by The Today Show to discuss his role in the new NBC musical series RISE. In the new musical drama series “Rise,” Josh Radnor portrays an inspirational high school theater director. He tells TODAY's Hoda Kotb that he was “thrilled” to learn that Rosie Perez would co-star with him: “She's really fun to fake-fight with, but I wouldn't recommend a real fight with her.”

Inspired by a true story, when dedicated teacher and family man Lou Mazzuchelli follows his dream of leading his high school's lagging theatre department, he not only galvanizes the students and faculty, but their entire working-class town. Rise premieres TONIGHT 10/9 on NBC.

In just days, NBC will premiere its newest drama, Rise, which airs Tuesday, March 13th at 10pm ET/PT following the season finale of 'This Is Us,' and debuts in its regular time period on Tuesday, March 20th at 9pm ET/PT on NBC.

The first musical offering highlights cast recordings included in the “Rise” series premiere, airing on Tuesday, March 13 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, immediately following the season finale of “This Is Us.” The weekly musical releases will culminate with a full album, entitled “RISE SEASON 1: THE ALBUM,” due Friday, May 11. The collection will highlight selected tracks released over the course of the season, alongside additional unreleased songs from the cast.
