One Old Crow Productions Presents DAVID'S REDHAIRED DEATH, Now thru 11/10

One Old Crow Productions (2013 New York Innovative Theatre Award Nominees for Outstanding Revival of a Play for their site-specific production of Sam Shepard's Cowboy Mouth) will present Sherry Kramer's play David's RedHaired Death directed by Michael Rau (Song of a Convalescent Ayn Rand Giving Thanks to the Godhead with Wolf 259), tonight, October 23-November 10 at LA SALA at Cantina Royal (58 N. 3rd Street between Wythe Ave and Kent Ave in Williamsburg Brooklyn).

New York Philharmonic Ensembles Set for Merkin Concert Hall November 17, 2013

The New York Philharmonic Ensembles, composed of musicians from the Orchestra, will give its second performance of the 2013–14 season on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at Merkin Concert Hall with a concert featuring L.E. Jadin's Nocturne No. 3 for Flute, Clarinet, Bassoon, and Horn; Nielsen's Woodwind Quintet; and Schubert's String Quintet. The musicians on the program will be violinists Quan Ge and Lisa GiHae Kim; violist Vivek Kamath; cellists Ru-Pei Yeh and Sumire Kudo; flutist Mindy Kaufman; Associate Principal Oboe Sherry Sylar; clarinetist Pascual Marti?nez Forteza; Associate Principal Bassoon Kim Laskowski; and hornists R. Allen Spanjer and Howard Wall.

Bay Ridge Vocal Studios Students Bring VOICES 2013 to Producers Club on 11/9

Brooklyn's brightest stars shine on the same block as Matilda and Phantom of the Opera in Voices 2013, the fourth annual concert of Bay Ridge Vocal Studios. This year, the program's final concert moves to one of off-off Broadway's most recognized venues, the Producers Club in Manhattan. Pianist and composer Dan Furman returns for his second year with the celebrated Brooklyn school of voice.

Larry Yando to Star in Goodman Theatre's A CHRISTMAS CAROL; Cast Announced!

The most wonderful time of the year is underway as rehearsals begin this week for Goodman Theatre's A Christmas Carol, 'a joyous present for the entire family' (Chicago Sun-Times), in its 36th annual production. Directing the holiday favorite for the first time, Henry Wishcamper's production features all-new on stage magic-set elements, special effects and more. The cast of 27 (below, includes 14 new and 13 returning cast members) stars Larry Yando, who most recently appeared in Mary Zimmerman's production of The Jungle Book as Shere Khan, in his sixth turn as Ebenezer Scrooge and 8-year-old Matthew Abraham as Tiny Tim for the second year. A Christmas Carol runs November 16 - December 28 in the Goodman's Albert Theatre.

GYPSY Opens Tonight at Novato Theater

Mama Rose, Baby June, and plain, gawky Louise (but just wait!) hit the boards as the ever-popular musical Gypsy becomes the second production of the Novato Theater Company's 2013-2014 season in its charming new theater. The Arthur Laurents-Jule Styne-Stephen Sondheim musical features songs like 'Let Me Entertain You,' 'You Gotta Have a Gimmick,' and of course, 'Everything's Coming up Roses.'

Frankie Valli to Perform at Palace Theatre, 11/3

With an incredible career spanning nearly 50 years, Frankie Valli has wooed audiences throughout the world with one of the most distinctive voices in rock 'n' roll. Valli scored 29 Top 40 hits with The Four Seasons and nine Top 40 hits as a solo artist, earning him induction into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. As a member of The Four Seasons, Valli's number one hits include 'Sherry,' 'Big Girls Don't Cry,' 'Walk Like a Man,' 'Rag Doll,' and 'December 1963 (Oh, What A Night).' As a solo artist, he hit number one with 'My Eyes Adored You' and 'Grease.'

ManiaTales Wins Benjamin Franklin Award

EggMania: Where's the Egg in Exactly? has earned the prestigious Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) Benjamin Franklin Digital Award Silver Seal of Excellence. Written by Sherry Maysonave and illustrated by Denise Caliva, EggMania is an enhanced Apple iBook aimed at children ages 6-12.

Mat Hostetler Joins Dee Hoty in Off-Broadway's THE PREACHER AND THE SHRINK

Mat Hostetler is joining the cast of THE PREACHER AND THE SHRINK, a new play by Merle Good starring Dee Hoty. Performances will begin November 2nd, with the official Opening Night on Monday, November 18th at 7 PM at The Beckett Theatre at Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street. The limited engagement is scheduled to run through January 4th. Mat is replacing Richard Thierot who has accepted a role in Luna Gale, a world premiere drama at the Goodman Theatre directed by Robert Falls. Under the direction of Steven Yuhasz, THE PREACHER AND THE SHRINK will also feature Tom Galantich(Mamma Mia!, City of Angels, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Adria Vitlar (The Columnist, Blood and Gifts) and Nicholas Urda(Love's Labour's Lost).

MTV to Debut New Docu-Series GENERATION CRYO, 11/25

MTV today announced that it will premiere the compelling docu-series “Generation Cryo,” which explores families and the issues faced by a new generation of young people conceived via anonymous sperm donation, on Monday, November 25 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. The series documents the journey of 17-year-old Breeanna who recently learned that she has at least 15 half-siblings fathered by the same anonymous donor, #1096. What follows is a six-episode, one-hour series that re-defines what it means to be a modern family

JERSEY BOYS Adds Additional Columbus Day Weekend Performance Today

To celebrate Columbus Day Weekend, the Tony, Olivier and Grammy Award-winning Best Musical JERSEY BOYS has added a performance tonight, October 13 at 7pm. To make the accommodation, there will be no evening performance on Wednesday, October 9 and the curtain time of the matinee today, October 13 is at 2pm.

Smokey D's BBQ Wins World Series of BBQ Championship

After winning every meat category over the past decade at The American Royal competition in Kansas City, Smokey D's BBQ brought home the overall title in the World Series of BBQ over the weekend. The win netted co-owners Darren and Sherry Warth $12,500 in prize money, $5,000 in bonus Kingsford prize money as well as invitations to the prestigious Kingsford Invitational in New York City in November, the 2014 Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational in Lynchburg, TN and the 2014 Houston Livestock BBQ.

Molotov Theatre Group Returns to the Stage with EXTREMITIES Tonight

We're baa-aack! After a yearlong hiatus to overhaul the company, Molotov Theatre Group, DC's only horror- and suspense-related theatre, is bringing its singularly twisted vision to 'Extremities,' by William Mastrosimone. The show runs Thursdays through Sundays, tonight, October 10-November 3 at 7:30 PM at the DC Arts Center.
