The Grove Theatre to Present World Premiere of The Gospel According to the Kinisons.
The Grove Theatre has announced the world premiere of The Gospel According to the Kinisons.
Great preachers aren't born that way. Most are them are a result of how they were raised. The Kinison family included the infamous comedian Sam Kinison, a brother named Richard who was born severely mentally handicapped and blind and yet was miraculously healed at the age of 13, Kevin who would also model for Barbazon, and Bill who was a very accomplished speaker. It is Bill who wrote and performs The Gospel according to the Kinisons. All four Kinison brothers became Pentecostal preachers, following in the footsteps of their father and mother.
The Gospel according to the Kinisons is an inside view of Pentecostalism, the Kinison family, religion and evangelists like Jimmy Swaggert, Jim Baker, Pat Robertson and others. It is presented along the style of a Pentecostal church service with inspiring and moving music by Sherry Kinison and her choir. Fiercely funny and bitingly sad, this moving tragic-comedy throws theatre instantaneously into high gear.
Running from Nov. 15th to the 17th, performances are on Friday and Saturday at 7:29 pm and on Sunday at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $20 with senior, student and group discounts and can be purchased by calling (909) 920-4343, or by visiting The Grove box office or website at http://www.grovetheatre.com. The Grove Theatre is located at 276 E. Ninth Street, Upland, CA 91786.
