Low Box Office Performance Predicted for JERSEY BOYS Film

According to Boxoffice.com, Clint Eastwood's big screen adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical JERSEY BOYS, set to hit theaters on June 20th, is not looking like it will be a box office smash.

Jeffrey Bean, Sharon Lockwood and More Star in Alley Theatre's 'VANYA AND SONIA', Beg. Tonight

Tony Award-winning comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike will feature Resident Actor Jeffrey Bean as Vanya, Sharon Lockwood returning to the Alley as Sonia, Alley Artist Josie de Guzman returning as Masha, and Resident Actor Jay Sullivan as Spike. Rounding out the cast and making their Alley debuts are Rachael Holmes as Cassandra and Sarah Nealis as Nina. Jonathan Moscone, Artistic Director of California Shakespeare Theater, helms the production and returns after having directed the Alley's 2011 production of Amadeus.

Grammy Winner Melissa Manchester to Play Spencer Cabaret Night, 5/31

Grammy-winner Melissa Manchester - Saturday, May 31 at 8 p.m. ($69 & $66)). Pop-rock songstress with a bevy of honors and awards for her catalog of beautiful pop ballads “Midnight Blue,” “Through The Eyes of Love,” “Whenever I Call You Friend,” “Don't Cry Out Loud” and “You Should Hear How She Talks About You,” among other hits. Melissa will play the piano and sing at her multi-media Spencer gig, which includes guitar and vocal accompaniment. Pre-show ravioli & linguini lobby buffet ($20) at 6 p.m.

Possum Point Players to Present SEE HOW THEY RUN, 6/6-15

Possum Point Players production of "See How They Run," will not only keep the audience laughing, but it just might clear up some age old questions such as the meaning of "One man's pyjamas is another man's night-shirt" or why did the Bishop get knocked down on to that marrow bed? Or maybe it won't clarify anything other than there will be ample reason for laughter June 6, 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15 at Possum Hall in Georgetown.

Lee Blessing's INDEPENDENCE to Open 6/6 at Lounge Theatre

Veteran professional actor and acclaimed acting coach Vernee Watson makes her directorial debut at the 2014 Hollywood Fringe Festival with INDEPENDENCE, a wise, funny, and affecting family drama from Tony- and Pulitzer-nominated playwright Lee Blessing. The production features the talents of actors Lauren Benge, Kat Muldoon, Shelley Phillips, and Jenny Simpson and opens June 6 at The Lounge Theatre.

The Old Globe's VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE Begins Performances Tonight

The Old Globe presents Christopher Durang's Tony Award-winning farce Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, which will include Candy Buckley as Masha, Marcia DeBonis as Sonia, Tyler Lansing Weaks as Spike, Allison Layman as Nina, Martin Moran as Vanya, and Haneefah Wood as Cassandra. Jessica Stone will direct, based on the Tony-nominated Broadway direction of Old Globe Associate Artist Nicholas Martin, whose loss on April 30 devastated the theatre world*. Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike will run today, May 17 - June 22, 2014 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run tonight, May 17 through the 21st. Opening night is May 22 at 8:00 p.m.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) will present a 2010 Pulitzer Prize finalist and a 2010 Tony Nominee for Best Play, In The Next Room or The Vibrator Play by Sarah Ruhl. The smart, touching, and hilarious period play will be directed by MET Associate Artistic Director, Julie Herber.
