The Theatre and Interpretation Center and American Music Theatre Project (AMTP) at Northwestern University will present the 2009 Summer Music Theatre Festival (June 24 to Aug. 9), featuring new works and old favorites performed by both Broadway stars and Northwestern music theatre students.

Crown City Theatre Company is set to present The Apple Tree. Previews will take place June 3 & 4 at 8 pm. The show runs from June 5 - June 28. General admission tickets cost $20, tickets for students and seniors cost $15. Tickets to preview shows cost $15, $10 students and seniors.

The Apple Tree is an evening of three funny, poignant and fascinating one-act musicals about men, women and temptation with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick (the team that created Fiddler on the Roof, She Loves Me and The Rothschilds), and a book by Bock and Harnick with contributions from Jerome Coopersmith.

On behalf of the Kleban Foundation, New Dramatists presented the 19th Annual Kleban Award for the most promising musical theater lyricist has to Beth Falcone and the award for the most promising musical theater librettist has to Kait Kerrigan. The 2009 awards were presented on June 1, 2009, in a private ceremony at BMI.

Broadway actress and celebrated impressionist Christine Pedi is to premiere her one woman tour-de-force, Great Dames, in London. Great Dames will be at Jermyn Street Theatre from Tuesday June 2 - Sunday June 21. The press night is Wednesday June 3 at 8.00pm.

The celebrated Jewish philanthropist Ernest W. Michel will be honored at Town Hall, 123 West 43rd Street, on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 7:30pm, in a gala concert presented by the Drama Desk Award-winning National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene.
