The annual KLEBAN PRIZE FOR MUSICAL THEATRE presentation took place just yesterday, February 6 at ASCAP.  Some of Broadway's legendary musical theatre creators and young-up-and-comers will come out to honor the two prize winners, perform some of their material, and present their prizes at a food and drink reception hosted by ASCAP and BMI. 

In what he has been calling the third part of a 'Cabaret Trilogy of Classic Hollywood Songwriters,' 2016 MAC Award nominee and 2016 and 2015 BroadwayWorld.com New York Cabaret Award Nominee Jeff Macauley will continue the run of his most recent show, Le Grand Tour: The Music of Michel Legrand, at Don't Tell Mama (W 46th St., between 8th & 9th Ave) on March 17 at 7 pm. Macauley's Musical Director/Arranger/Pianist Tex Arnold and Jon Burr is on bass. After performing his Legrand Tribute show at the Metropolitan Room last August, BistroAwards.com called it ' . . . smart, funny, and well constructed . . . a good mix of classic and rarer material . . .'

Peanuts fans rejoice! THE WORLD ACCORDING TO SNOOPY, a re-imagined sequel to YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN runs at Texas State University from February 14 - 19. A massive undertaking in the debut of this re-worked show, has Peanuts fans, like myself giddy with excitement. On Sunday, January 29, 2017, the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust joins with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene to honor the memory of Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel, who died on July 2, 2016, by presenting a community reading of his landmark memoir NIGHT, which tells of his experience in German concentration camps with his father during the Holocaust.

As of January 1, 2017, Ernie Harburg, son of the legendary lyricist E.Y. 'Yip' Harburg, has stepped down as President of the Yip Harburg Foundation, to be succeeded by Yip's daughter-in-law, Deena Rosenberg Harburg, who is presently the foundation's Artistic Director.
