DoubleTree by Hilton Debuts in Flagstaff, Along Route 66

DoubleTree by Hilton and Hilton Worldwide today announced the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Flagstaff following a nine-month, multi-million dollar renovation. The newly upgraded 183-room property, formerly an independent hotel, is located along the iconic Route 66, two miles from historic downtown Flagstaff, and just five miles from Flagstaff Pulliam Airport and 140 miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. For guests seeking to enjoy the breathtaking natural sites the area has to offer, DoubleTree by Hilton Flagstaff serves as an ideal base for visiting popular destinations such as Grand Canyon National Park (75 miles), the Petrified National Forest (111 miles) and Meteor Crater (45 miles). The hotel is owned by Uniwell Corporation and managed by Granite Hospitality. This year marks Uniwell's 25th year of ownership of the hotel.

Toronto International Film Festival®(TIFF) breakout talent, Tatiana Maslany (Picture Day, The Vow), has been cast to star in the new original series Orphan Black, produced by Temple Street Productions for BBC AMERICA and Canadian cable channel, SPACE. The announcement was made as Maslany was feted for her starring role in the feature Picture Day, which made its world premiere at this year's festival. The Genie and Gemini-nominated actor, who received the 2010 Sundance special jury prize for Grown Up Movie Star, is capturing the increasing attention of fans and industry elite alike - including recent critical acclaim from The Globe and Mail, Toronto Sun, and NOW Magazine. Set to begin production in Toronto this October, additional casting for the 10 episode series will be announced soon.

Sundance Institute announced today the lineup of films selected to screen in the U.S. and World Cinema Dramatic and Documentary Competitions for the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. Matt Weaver & Scott Prisand, two of ROCK OF AGES' lead producers and co-owners of the LA-based Corner Store Entertainment, have two films in the top dramatic category at Sundance Film Festival. The films, which star a host of stage stars, are SYMPATHY FOR DELICIOUS (Mark Ruffalo, Laura Linney, Orlando Bloom and Juliette Lewis) and HESHER (Natalie Portman and Joseph Gordon Levitt).

Chess certainly has a checkered past. When I got the press release that the wonderful Winters Lane Productions headquartered at the cute little space in Building Q (what a location for Avenue Q) at Catonsville Community College would be staging a concert version I immediately circled it on my calendar. And when I noticed Shawn Doyle would be returning to the stage for this version, I anticipated this would be something not to be missed.
