On September 7, 2008 the curtain will fall on Broadway for the final performance of Rent. In celebration of the show and its history making run, we gave the cast a portable FLIP video camera so they could give us their view of life backstage. As they were able to film themselves, the FLIP video footage allows you to see and hear Rent from the actor's unique perspective.

McAllister rang the Opening Bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Thurs., August 14th, 2008 joined by RENT cast members Renee Elise Goldsberry, Andrea Goss, Trisha Jeffrey, Owen Johnston, Tracy McDowell, Destan Owens and Gwen Stewart to celebrate RENT's successful 12-year run at the Nederlander Theatre on Broadway and its final performance on September 7, 2008.
Continuing its free lunchtime series this week, '106.7 Lite fm Presents Broadway in Bryant Park 2008' welcomes the casts of Young Frankenstein, 13, Grease, Legally Blonde The Musical & Rent on Thursday, August 14th. The following day, Friday August 15th the casts of The Lion King, Enter Laughing, Hairspray, Godspell & Forbidden Broadway will be performing.

Actor Destan Owens will be returning to the Broadway stage for 'Rent' starting tonight, 8/11 through the shows planned closing on September 7th.

Tracie Thoms, who played Joanne in the 2005 'Rent' film, will join the Broadway production of RENT.
On Thursday, July 17th 2008 at 5:30PM. The current cast of RENT will appearing at Bloomingdale's at 59th Street (2nd Floor) for a special performance and autograph signing. The cast will be performing 'Seasons of Love', 'What you Own', 'Take Me Or Leave Me' and 'I'll Cover You'. After the performances RENT cast members will briefly sign autographs. From July 9th through July 20th, Bloomingdale's will feature RENT window displays, containing original costume items from the Broadway production
On May 14th, 2008, RENT hosted a benefit event at The Canal Room for Ubuntu Education Fund.
