Sundance Institute, in collaboration with Science Sandbox, an initiative of the Simons Foundation, announced the expansion of the Science Sandbox Nonfiction Initiative, alongside the initial nine science-focused independent projects selected for support this year. The Edinburgh International Festival launches this week for its 73rd edition, bringing the best of theatre, music and dance from across the world to Scotland's capital. Today at the Television Critics Association Press Tour, PBS and WETA announced ASIAN AMERICANS, a new five-part documentary series currently in production and expected to broadcast in May 2020 on PBS.  The series examines what the 2010 U.S. Census identifies as the fastest growing racial/ethnic group in the United States. Told through individual lives and personal histories, ASIAN AMERICANS explores the impact of this group on the country's past, present, and future.

The The British Theatre Academy returns to Southwark Playhouse for a second summer season of shows.

Following sell-out performances of their London shows, the London Musical Theatre Orchestra are heading out on a UK tour with A Night At The Musicals, opening at Royal & Derngate, Northampton. This spectacular evening features hits from Broadway and film, bigger and better than you've ever heard them before.

Victory Gardens Theater Artistic Director Chay Yew, Executive Director Erica Daniels and Director of New Play Development Skyler Gray announce the lineup for the 11th Anniversary IGNITION Festival of New Plays, including The Tasters by Meghan Brown; The Gradient by Steph Del Rosso; [hieroglyph] by Erika Dickerson-Despenza; #NEWSLAVES by Keelay Gipson; Reckoning: Furies from a New Queer Nation by Geraldine Inoa; and They Could Give No Name by Exal Iraheta. The presenters have been selected for the upcoming second season of 2ND ACT,  the Palace Theater's acclaimed speaker's series that features stories by  people post age 50, who are doing some extraordinary things after mid-life. Among them is Pat Addiss, a Broadway producer based in New York who will kick the series off on September 17 with her presentation, Necessity is the Mother of Reinvention and Lisa Lampanelli, formerly known for her acerbic comedic style, who is now a life coach.  She'll be presenting her new show Losin' It on the main stage of the theater on November 16.
