After 15 years, the popular late night improv show THE HOT KARL is coming to a close on June 14, 2014 at The ComedySportz Theatre (929 W Belmont). Since 1999, every Saturday at midnight, some of Chicago's best improvisers and eager audience members have packed into The ComedySportz Theatre for a night of unpredictable and unadulterated fun. Starting in April, THE HOT KARL is celebrating by inviting some of the top names in Chicago comedy to see them off.

Shakespeare & Company unleashes its devilish new take on The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield. A hilarious medley of mayhem, comedy, and lunacy, Complete Works is directed by resident funny man Jonathan Croy and features just three actors who play over 750 roles- yes we are kidding-well, sort of. This family friendly show runs in the Tina Packer Playhouse from July 4 - August 24th. Press Opening is Friday, July 11 at 7:00pm. The Grand Haven-based Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company will open its summer production of Coriolanus at the Dog Story Theater, 7 Jefferson SE in Grand Rapids, on June 19. The production will run at Dog Story June 19-21 and 26-28 at 8:00 p.m., and June 22 and 29 at 3:00 p.m..

The Shakespeare Players program of the Rochester Community Players will present eleven performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream, by William Shakespeare, July 5 to 19, 2014. Performances will be presented every night between July 5 and 19, except Mondays and Thursdays. All performance times are 8:00 PM. Last performed at the Company in 1993, Founding Artistic Director Tina Packer delivers audiences her 'bare-Bard' production of Caesar, marking its final leg of a three city tour-Orlando, Florida, Prague in the Czech Republic, and now at home in Lenox, with Shakespeare & Company. With 7 actors playing multiple roles this poetry-filled psychological and political thriller follows the conspiracy and assassination of the omnipotent Roman leader, and the consequences that ensue from his brutal murder. Performances run in the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre June 27 - August 30.Press Opening is Friday, July 4 at 8:00pm.

From today, June 11th-June 21st, Popcorn Hat Players will present Aesop's Fables at the Gamut Classic Theatre. A delightful assortment of Aesop's famous fables from 'The Cat Maiden' to 'The Two Frogs' to 'The Ant and the Grasshopper', will make children laugh as well as learn some valuable lessons along the way! Each of Aesop's fables has a moral. Some of the famous ones in this play include 'Think Before You Answer,' 'Don't Be Greedy,' and 'Look Before You Leap!'

The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF) announces the three plays that will run in repertory during the Company's 28th season: Othello, directed by Associate Artistic Director Christopher V. Edwards, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, directed by HVSF newcomer Eric Tucker, and David Ives' hilarious adaptation of Pierre Corneille's comedy, The Liar, directed by HVSF veteran Russell Treyz.
Rick Dildine Named New Executive Director of Shakespeare & Company

Shakespeare & Company Board Chair Sarah Hancock announced today that Rick Dildine, previously of Shakespeare Festival St. Louis, will become the organization's Executive Director and President, starting early September 2014. In this role, Mr. Dildine will be directly responsible for all of the Company's programming and administrative activities.
