Theatre Royal Bath today announces The Argument by William Boyd, its third Summer Season production, with Felicity Kendal starring in the role of Chloe. The production, directed by Christopher Luscombe, will run in the Main House from 7 to 24 August with opening night for press on 12 August.

Drama lovers are in for a particular treat with this season. Renowned and innovative company Out Of Joint will make their first visit to The Marlowe with their production of Andrea Dunbar's seminal 1980s play Rita, Sue And Bob Too (Wednesday 24 to Saturday 27 April).

The African-American Shakespeare Company closes their production of Leslie Lee's Black Eagles this weekend on March 31st. The show is directed by the company's Artistic Director, L. Peter Callender. This marks a return of the company to the Marine's Memorial where it presents the extraordinary drama about the Tuskegee Airmen, America's first black fighter pilots. The play opens onstage during a reception honoring the airmen. As the now-elderly WWII pilots reminisce, their younger selves join them, which serves as the basis for the story of this brave company to be retold.

The Bridge Initiative: Women in Theatre offers its second Bechdel Test Fest, Friday through Sunday, April 26th-28th, at Tempe Center for the Arts. The festival offerings include a panel discussion, play readings, film screenings, and more. All plays and films pass the Bechdel Test: two female-identifying characters who have a conversation with each other about something other than a man. Originally applied to film, The Bridge Initiative is using the test in assessing festival plays too.

Full casting has today been announced for the landmark revival of the award-winning British musical The Hired Man, co-produced by the Queen's Theatre Hornchurch and Hull Truck Theatre in association with Oldham Coliseum Theatre. This epic heroic tale of love, betrayal and loyalty opens in Hornchurch (27 April - 18 May), transfers to Hull (23 May - 15 June) and concludes in Oldham (20 June - 6 July).

A new theatrical adaptation of Mary Shelley's seminal 1818 gothic horror novel Frankenstein is set to depict Shelley onstage, as she unfolds her monstrous tale of creature and creator. Adapted by award-winning writer Rona Munro and co-produced by leading company Selladoor (in the company's tenth anniversary year), Matthew Townshend Productions, Belgrade Theatre Coventry, and Perth Theatre at Horsecross Arts, the production will tour nationwide from 2 September - 30 November 2019. Further dates and casting are yet to be announced.
