The Mayor of Auckland, Len Brown, announced that the world-wide smash hit production of JERSEY BOYS will open at The Civic in Auckland, New Zealand in April 2012.
Single tickets for the national tour of the new musical THE ADDAMS FAMILY, based on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams, will go on sale Sunday, August 7 at Noon. With one year to go until the start of the London Olympic Games 2012, the producers of JERSEY BOYS are offering people the chance to buy top-price tickets to see the multi award-winning musical in London during the Olympics and Paralympics weeks in 2012 for just £20.12 each. These special tickets are available from today, Wednesday 27 July 2011 until 20 December 2011 and can be purchased in person from the Box Office at the Prince Edward Theatre, or on 0844 482 5151, or at www.jerseyboyslondon.com. These tickets would normally cost £65 weekdays and £67.50 at the weekend. The special price includes a £1 restoration levy and the normal transaction/booking fees apply (£1.75 via the ‘phone and website, but £0 in person at the counter).
BroadwayWorld has learned that MEMPHIS star Chad Kimball will take an indefinite hiatus from the Tony-winning show beginning October 23, 2011 due to nerve damage he's suffered in his neck as a result of performing the demanding role of 'Huey Calhoun' eight nights a week. Kimball created the role 'Huey' and has been bringing him to life at the Shubert Theatre for nearly two years. The nerve damage began to create problems for Kimball a couple of months ago, and he has missed several performances since.
Susan Anton is announced to join the cast of HAIRSPRAY at the Hollywood Bowl as Velma Von Tussle. The production reunites the original Broadway stars Harvey Fierstein and Marissa Jaret Winokur; and includes Corbin Bleu, Drew Carey, Diana DeGarmo, Mo Gaffney, Nick Jonas, Darlene Love, Tara Macri, Michael McDonald and John Stamos. Anton co-starred as Velma Von Tussle in the Las Vegas production of the Broadway musical, Hairspray, opposite Harvey Fierstein. HAIRSPRAY is at the Hollywood Bowl for three performances only, August 5, 6, and 7.

The 2010 Tony winning Best Musical MEMPHIS recently announced a partnership with The Great Atlantic Pacific & Tea Company (A&P) to raise money for New York-area Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Beginning July 4, 2011, customers at all A&P, Pathmark, Food Emporium, Waldbaum's, Food Basics, Super Fresh and Best Cellars stores will be asked to make a donation to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals at the register. Those who donate will also receive a special discount offer for tickets to MEMPHIS on Broadway. The promotion will run through the end of July in more than 360 stores along the eastern seaboard.
