The previous week (week ending 1/1/12), the show also set a new box office record for a 9-show week with a gross of $1,825,246. JERSEY BOYS now holds the top 12 weekly box office grosses at the Forrest Theater (combination of 2010 premiere and 2011 return).

Michael Riedel reports in today's New York Post that both LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE and LEAP OF FAITH are considering making Spring bows on Broadway as they evaluate both potential available theatres and 'Best New Musical' competitors.
Talking to producers for LEAP OF FAITH, Riedel reports 'When I asked about their plans, they said: " 'Leap of Faith' is planning to open [in] fall 2012. If we were presented with the possibility of a spring opening, we would strongly consider it, but many pieces would have to fall into place to make that happen." Broadway regular Sergio Trujillo will direct and choreograph the project, which is set for New York readings this winter and will reportedly head to Toronto for its out-of-town tryout according to a new Equity casting notice. According to the notice, the show will play Toronto from June 26 to August 5, 2012, and opening night on Broadway is currently scheduled for September 20.

Hockadoo! The 2010 Tony winning Best Musical MEMPHIS announced today that Broadway veteran Christopher Jackson (In the Heights, The Lion King) will join the cast of MEMPHIS as "Delray." Jackson is scheduled to begin performances on Tuesday, January 24th. Current "Delray" J. Bernard Calloway will play his final performance on Sunday, January 22nd, before taking a leave of absence to appear in Two River Theater Company's production of August Wilson's Jitney. Calloway is expected to return to MEMPHIS February 28th.
