The fourth annual 1VOICE/1PLAY/1DAY event celebrates what it means to be female in the 21st century, with a focus on empowering women and girls.

Court Theatre announces its 60th season under the continuing leadership of Artistic Director Charles Newell, Executive Director Stephen J. Albert, and Board Chair Marilyn Fatt Vitale. The company's ambitious 2014/15 season will feature the World Premiere of Native Son adapted from Richard Wright's classic novel by Nambi E. Kelley and co-produced with American Blues Theater; Euripides' Iphigenia in Aulis translated by Nicholas Rudall and directed by Artistic Director Charles Newell; Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot, directed by Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson; and the World Premiere of Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare's The Good Book, directed by Lisa Peterson. Closing out the anniversary season is Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon's The Secret Garden, based on the beloved novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett and directed by Artistic Director Charles Newell with music direction by Doug Peck.

Actors' Equity Association ('AEA' or Equity) and its Eastern Region Equal Employment Opportunity Committee, together with First Corinthian Baptist Church and Executive Producer and Artistic Producer Project1Voice present 'FOUR LITTLE GIRLS: BIRMINGHAM 1963,' a one night only staged reading event to be held on Monday, February 3rd at 7:30pm at First Corinthian Baptist Church (1912 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd., between West 115th & 116th Streets, Harlem NYC). This Black History Month event is free and open to the public (doors open at 6:45pm; ticketing and entry will be handled on-site, day of show, on a first-come, first-served basis) and will be sign-language-interpreted for theatregoers who are deaf or hard of hearing. A panel discussion will take place immediately following the reading.

Celebrating 45 Years as New York City's longest continually running black theatre, Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre Inc. [NBT] is proud to announce our appointment of Jonathan McCrory as the Director of Theatre Arts Program. McCrory follows in the footsteps of the late Theatre Arts Director, Tunde Samuels, who held the position for 25 years. McCrory with take the helm of the Theatre Arts Program as the Director in November when the launch National Black Theatre's 45h Season with the New York Premiere of "Last Saint On Sugar Hill" by Keith Josef Adkins directed by Seret Scott.

Nicholas Martin Named Associate Artist of The Old Globe

The Old Globe today named director Nicholas Martin an Associate Artist of The Old Globe. He is the 56th artist to receive the prestigious honor recognizing over half a century of his unique contributions to the institution both on and offstage. After making his acting debut in 1957 as the Fool in King Lear, Martin went on to appear on the Globe stage in 18 additional productions, including The Merry Wives of Windsor (1965), The School for Scandal (1989) and Hamlet (1960 and 1990). As a director, he helmed the Globe productions of Later Life, Full Gallop, Overtime, Macbeth and The Mask of Moriarty. The Old Globe is currently celebrating the 100th anniversary of George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion with Martin's production of Shaw's masterwork, which runs through Feb. 17. The Wilson Pickett Jr. Legacy, LLC (WPL) will open the Wilson Pickett: 25 at the Top exhibit on Friday, August 17, 2012. This exhibit pays tribute to one of our greatest rhythm and blues legends - 'Wicked' Wilson Pickett. 25 At the Top: The Exhibit is a pictorial overview which includes original programs, clothing, posters, scores, photos, recordings, awards, video footage and gold records. The exhibit will be displayed at the Porter Sanford III Center for Performing Arts from August 17 - September 23, 2012. Admission is free.

Both history and literature are peppered with intense stories of sibling rivalry--the most contentious of which often recount the environmental and circumstantial forces that pit them against one another, sometimes resulting in wrenching, tragic results. Added to this cannon almost a decade ago was Suzan-Lori Parks' Pulitzer Prize-winning drama TOPDOG/UNDERDOG, currently enjoying a well-executed revival production at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa through January 29, 2012.
