Today's big news: The cast of HAMILTON is setting sail today, ENGAGEMENTS opens tonight at Second Stage, Off-Broadway dims its lights in memory of James Houghton, and the stars of HOLIDAY INN hit BROADWAY IN BRYANT PARK!

Second Stage Theatre 2016 Uptown Series' production of ENGAGEMENTS officially opens for an extended run tonight, August 4th.

Honoring his work and dedication to the Off-Broadway community, numerous Off-Broadway theatres will dim their lights on Thursday at 7:45PM, in memory of theatre legend James (Jim) Houghton, who died on August 2nd at the age of 57.

Karen Pittman, best known for playing the role of Jory in the Tony-nominated play Disgraced and starring in the TV series 'The Americans,' and Richard Topol, known for numerous Broadway appearances, most recently with Larry David in Fish in the Dark, both star in Chautauqua Theater Company's (CTC) Signature Staged Reading of The Glow Overhead.

Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC) continues its significant commitment to new play development under the co-leadership of Artistic Directors Vivienne Benesch and Andrew Borba with Signature Staged Readings of The Glow Overhead written by Nick Gandiello, and directed by Sherri Eden Barber, running August 3 - 5 as part of the 2016 season's New Play Workshop. The Glow Overhead plays on the Bratton Theater stage at the Chautauqua Institution.

Playwright Lauren Yee (King Of The Yees, The Hatmaker's Wife) recently visited Kansas City, MO to lead workshops with writers as part of the Dramatists Guild Fund's Traveling Masters Program. Click below to watch her in action and hear her speak!

Shattered Globe Theatre will conclude its 2016-17 Season with the Chicago premiere of Sarah Ruhl's FOR PETER PAN ON HER 70th BIRTHDAY, written for her mother Kathleen, a Chicago actress who played Peter Pan onstage as a teenager. Directed by Jessica Thebus, the production will feature Kathleen Ruhl, surrounded by the Shattered Globe Ensemble. FOR PETER PAN ON HER 70th BIRTHDAY will play April 6 - May 20, 2017 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. 

WAM Theatre is pleased to announce the cast for the fourth in their 2016 Fresh Takes Play Reading Series, Samsara by Lauren Yee, directed by WAM Theatre Co-Founder Leigh Strimbeck. The reading will take place on Sunday, August 21 at 3 pm at No. Six Depot Roastery and Cafe, 6 Depot Street in West Stockbridge, MA.

Fox Theatre in partnership with the Cobb Energy Centre announced today that individual tickets for the return engagement of Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage will go on sale Friday, August 5 at 10:00 a.m.

Williamstown Theatre Festival hosts the opening night for the third Nikos Stage production of the 2016 Season tonight, July 30th at 8:00pm with the world premiere of POSTER BOY (July 27th-August 7th).

The Old Globe presents the world premiere of Steve Martin's new play METEOR SHOWER, an adult comedy, marking his welcome return to the Globe following the great success of Bright Star. It will be directed by Gordon Edelstein in a co-production with Long Wharf Theatre, where Edelstein serves as Artistic Director (and no, he is not related to Barry).

The performer/playwright's new piece is about how educational practices feed the prison system.

The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team of the West Coast premiere of OCTOBER SKY, which will blast off the Globe's 2016-2017 Season with a tale of boys, rockets, and big dreams.

STARLIGHT EXPRESS opens at Artisan Center Theater on Friday, August 12, 2016 and runs through Saturday, September 3, 2016.  The 196 seat theater-in-the-round is located at 444 East Pipeline Road in Hurst.  Performances are at 7:30pm on Monday, Tuesday,Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with 3:00pm matinees on Saturdays beginning August 20. Reserved seating tickets are $22.00 for adults, $20.00 for students and seniors, and $11.00 for children 12 and under.  Monday through Thursday tickets are $20.00 for adults and $9.00 for children 12 and under. Bergen County Players, the New Jersey Association of Community Theater's "2015 Community Theater of the Year", is proud to announce its 84th consecutive season, running from September 2016 to June 2017. Continuing its commitment to bringing free Shakespeare to the community and strengthening audience engagement with the arts, The Public Theater will mount its MOBILE UNIT again this fall with a free three-week tour to the five boroughs of Shakespeare's HAMLET, directed by Patricia McGregor.

The cast and creative team is set for Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman's revival of WONDERFUL TOWN - Leonard Bernstein's classic musical that with lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green and book by Joseph Fields and Jerome Chodorov.
