OPUS at The Seattle Rep

The Seattle Rep is presenting Michael Hollinger's wonderful new play "Opus" about the behind the scenes drama of a string quartet, and while the ensemble never actually plays a note, they make beautiful music together.

Lee, Monk, Ross & Wilson Join LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE on January 6th

Producer Daryl Roth announced today that Michele Lee (Tale of the Allergist's Wife), Tony Award-winner Debra Monk (Curtains), Tracee Ellis Ross ('Girlfriends') and Casey Wilson ('Saturday Night Live') will join the rotating cast of Love, Loss and What I Wore. They join the show January 6 through January 31, 2009, alongside the returning Katie Finneran. Love, Loss, and What I Wore, an intimate collection of stories by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron, directed by Karen Carpenter and based on the bestselling book by Ilene Beckerman, opened October 1, 2009 to rave reviews at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43 Street, NYC) and has been extended through March 2010.

THE FANTASTICKS to Kick Off Long Wharf's 2009-10 Season Oct 7 - Nov 1

Long Wharf Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein and Managing Director Ray Cullom, will present the beloved musical The Fantasticks, directed by Amanda Dehnert, from October 7 through November 1, 2009, on the Mainstage.

Arden Theatre Company Presents Philadelphia Premiere THE HISTORY BOYS 9/24-11/1, Opens 9/30

Arden Theatre Company kicks off its 2009/10 season with the Philadelphia premiere of The History Boys, Alan Bennett's international hit that explores the anarchy of adolescence and the purpose of education. The History Boys previews begin on Thursday, September 24. Opening night is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 30. The production runs through November 1.

Seattle Theatre Group (STG) presents the premiere of Sonic Tales, a Degenerate Art Ensemble (DAE) piece, at The Moore Theatre on Friday, October 30, 2009 and Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. Degenerate Art Ensemble, an eccentric local performance art group, returns to The Moore Theatre after a sell-out engagement, Cuckoo Crow, in 2006.

THE BROTHER/SISTER PLAYS' IN THE RED & BROWN WATER Previews Tonight, 10/30

Tarell Alvin McCraney's The Brother/Sister Plays have officially launched at the Public Theater. The series Part 2, The Brothers Size and Marcus; or the Secret of Sweet, directed by Robert O'Hara, began previews on October 21. Tonight Part 1, In the red and Brown Water, hits the stage. Tina Landau directs. McCraney, one of America's most acclaimed young writers, returns to The Public to complete his trilogy following the success of The Brothers Size in 2007. Official opening night it November 17. Performances will run through December 13.

Seattle Rep Presents OPUS, 10/30 - 12/6

Sex. Lies. Violins. A cast of all-Seattle actors dives into the passionate behind-the-scenes life of a fictional string quartet in Opus at Seattle Repertory Theatre. The play is inspired by violist-turned-playwright Michael Hollinger's own quartet experiences. Opus opens in previews Oct. 30 and plays through Dec. 6 in the intimate Leo K. Theatre. Yale Repertory Theatre's ECLIPSED Opens 10/29

The Yale Repertory Theatre will present Danai Gurira's ECLIPSED beginning October 24th, with an opening night of October 29th. The cast will feature Pascale Armand, Zainab Jah, Adepero Oduye, Stacey Sargeant, and Shona Tucker.

SANTA CLAUS IS COMING OUT Plays the Kirk Theater, Opens 11/29

Diverse City Theater Company, Penguin Rep Theatre and Shotgun Productions will reveal the truth behind the Santa-gate scandal in SANTA CLAUS IS COMING OUT, a new comedy written by and starring Jeffrey Solomon, directed by acclaimed director Joe Brancato. The show runs from November 29th thru December 20th at Theatre Row's The Kirk Theatre.

Antoinette LaVecchia's HOW TO BE A GOOD ITALIAN DAUGHTER Closes Tonight, 12/12

HOW TO BE A GOOD ITALIAN DAUGHTER, a play written and performed by Antoinette LaVecchia, will begin its recently-announced 8-week extension Off-Broadway on Thursday, October 29 at 7p.m. at the Cherry Lane Studio Theatre in Manhattan. The production is now scheduled to play through December 12, 2009.

Northlight Theatre Presents SOUVENIR 11/12-12/20

Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, continues its 35th Season with Souvenir, Stephen Temperley's true musical story of 'The Tone-deaf Diva' Florence Foster Jenkins. The production, directed by Steve Scott, runs November 12- December 20, 2009 at Northlight Theatre, 9501 Skokie Blvd in Skokie.
