Antoinette LaVecchia's HOW TO BE A GOOD ITALIAN DAUGHTER Closes Tonight, 12/12

By:

HOW TO BE A GOOD ITALIAN DAUGHTER, a play written and performed by Antoinette Lavecchia, will begin its recently-announced 8-week extension Off-Broadway on Thursday, October 29 at 7p.m. at the Cherry Lane Studio Theatre in Manhattan. The production is now scheduled to play through December 12, 2009.

Last week on October 22, the producers announced that by popular demand the show would extend beyond its initial Off-Off-Broadway 4-week run and begin a new Off-Broadway run starting October 29.

Directed by Ted Sod, HOW TO BE A GOOD ITALIAN DAUGHTER is a funny and touching portrait of mothers and daughters, centering on the classic struggles between an immigrant Italian mother and her Americanized daughter, a hearty blend of humor, vivacity and family history -- Italian style. With tickets previously on sale through October 25, HOW TO BE A GOOD ITALIAN DAUGHTER began previews on October 3 and had its official opening on Columbus Day, October 12.

HOW TO BE A GOOD ITALIAN DAUGHTERS has become a sold-out popular success with audiences and critics alike during its run at Cherry Lane.

Most recently seen on the New York stage Off-Broadway last year in a highly-praised performance opposite Daniel J. Travanti in A TOUCH OF THE POET, Ms. LaVecchia recently completed filming "The David Dance."

An actress and writer, Ms. LaVecchia has appeared in HEARTBREAK HOUSE at Two River Theatre Co. and in the world premiere of MAX & THE TRUFFLE PIG, directed by Erica Gould at New York Musical Theater Festival (NYMF). She also appeared last season in an extended run of THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED at Portland Center Stage. Her numerous NY appearances include at The Public Theatre in THE BOTTLE HOUSE, at Primary Stages in STRING OF PEARLS, and KIMBERLY
AKIMBO at MTC. Outside New York she has performed at Hartford Stage, Williamstown Theatre Festival, ATC in San Francisco and the Wilma Theatre in Philadelphia. Film and TV credits include "The Sopranos," "Jesus' Son" and "Dirty Laundry." Ted Sod has directed at George Street Playhouse including AGNES OF GOD, TALLEY'S FOLLY and WIT as well as productions at Seattle Rep. In
NY, he has directed for NYC Fringe Festival and Musicals in Mufti at York Theatre. HOW TO BE A GOOD ITALIAN DAUGHTER has scenic design by Michael V. Moore, costume design by Daniel James Cole, and lighting design by Traci Klainer.

The play is presented at the Cherry Lane Theatre by Jones Street Productions. Starting Thursday, October 29 and scheduled through December 12, HOW TO BE A GOOD ITALIAN DAUGHTER will perform Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 and Saturdays at 3 and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $28. Performance and ticket information by phone at 212 239 6200 or online at www.telecharge.com, or by visiting www.jonesstreetproductions.com.
