The Kennedy Center today announced casting for the Washington, D.C. engagement of Evita which runs in the Kennedy Center Opera House from September 30 to October 19, 2014. Directed by Tony and Olivier Award-winner Michael Grandage and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Rob Ashford, this is the first new Broadway production of the seven-time Tony Award-winning musical since it debuted on Broadway more than 30 years ago. The press opening night is Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 7:30 p.m.

Following yesterday's matinee, the cast and band of Broadway's After Midnight paraded to 47th and Broadway where West 47th Street was renamed 'DUKE ELLINGTON WAY' in an official Street Sign Unveiling Ceremony at the corner of 47th and Broadway. Musicians from the Jazz at Lincoln Center All-Stars (including Arthur Baron, one of the last surviving members from Ellington's orchestra) played two Ellington favorites for all of Times Square, in celebration. Oscar-winning FROZEN songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez are in development on their next project -- a musical titled UP HERE, with ROCKY's Alex Timbers on board to direct. The production is scheduled to make its World Premiere at La Jolla Playhouse in California during the theater's 2015-16 season, though no exact dates have been set.
