Part concert, part history lesson, and a lot of rock 'n roll-- that's 'Million Dollar Quartet', now on stage at the Ohio Theatre in PlayhouseSquare.

The national tour of the Broadway musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, inspired by the electrifying true story, will appear at the DuPont Theatre in Wilmington, Delaware for eight (8) performances only, from today, May 27 through June 1, 2014.

The turning of the tape reels. Two, grey circles that were constantly moving in the dimly lit background of Sam Phillips' recording studio. They rolled on amidst private conversations, arguments, and the performance of some of the greatest songs in the history of music.

When you enter Andrew Jackson Hall at Tennessee Performing Arts Center this week, you'll be greeted with a backdrop with these words: "On December 4, 1956, one man brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley together to play for the first and only time. His name was Sam Phillip…The place was Sun Records… That night they made rock 'n' roll history." This sets the mood for the night right away. You can't help but know you're about to see something special. Million Dollar Quartet has come to Nashville. Fluctuating somewhere between a memoir, and musical, and a rock concert, Million Dollart Quartet is set in another of Tennessee's famed cities, Memphis.

The McCallum Theatre has given the Coachella Valley another reason to be thankful this holiday weekend by presenting the stellar national tour of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET through December 1. As anyone who has read my previous reviews knows, I am a big fan of Mitch Gershenfeld and The McCallum Theatre for its ever-marvelous slate of offerings to the desert theatre-going community, and this production is no exception. I wish I had a million superlatives to equal the high caliber production that opened last evening for a "too-limited engagement".
