BWW Reviews: Lar Lubovitch: 45th Anniversary Season at the Joyce

Lately, all my conversations about dance return to one question: who is making new, exciting, and unique contemporary dances. It's true, we've all been jaded by So You Think You Can Dance, as well as the abundance of contemporary modern companies with beautiful, but nonetheless, gooey movement. Lar Lubovitch's program last Friday night at the Joyce was everything you would expect from contemporary dance-a little bit of floor work, a little bit of partnering, a modern torso with ballet legs and a cast of technical, and athletic dancers. However, Lar Lubovitch did deliver entertaining concepts and wonderful music for the audience.

The Joyce Theater Announces 2013-2014 Fall/Winter Season

The Joyce Theater (Linda Shelton, Executive Director), the United States' foremost dance venue, announced today programming for its 2013-2014 Fall & Winter Season featuring extraordinary companies, both international and local - several making their Joyce debuts - and loaded with highly anticipated premieres, including The Royal Ballet's production of Kafka's The Metamorphosis, choreographed by Arthur Pita especially for Royal Ballet Principal Edward Watson.

Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron's Love, Loss, and What I Wore attracts a whole new cast of actresses as it continues its Los Angeles run in the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater at the Geffen Playhouse through the month of September.

Walken in Talks for 'Wild Oats' Film

The Hollywood Reporter today writes that Tony-nominated BEHANDING IN SPOKANE star Christopher Walken is in talks to join the film 'Wild Oats' written by Claudia Myers and being directed by Scott Marshall.

DanceRINK Premiers 'Dracula' on Baltimore Stage

One of Halloween's classic characters is coming to the stage in Dracula, a unique dance/theater experience adapted from the 1938 vintage radio-play starring Orson Welles. Presented by danceRINK, the show will run Oct. 29-Nov. 1st at The Baltimore Theatre Project at 45 West Preston Street.

EVERYBODY SAY CHEESE Is Final Show Of 'Bringin' The Funny'

The Falcon Theatre presents the west coast premiere comedy Everybody Say 'Cheese!', the final production in its 2008-2009 'Bringin' the FUNNY' All-Comedy subscription season. Written by comedy icon and founder of the Falcon Theatre Garry Marshall, Everybody Say 'Cheese!' is directed by Steve Zuckerman and stars Joe Regalbuto (Murphy Brown) and DeeDee Rescher (King of Queens). Rounding out the cast are: Cyrus Alexander, John Capodice, Heather Corwin, Joel Johnstone and Roberta Valderrama.

Happy Days Comes to PPAC January 23rd - 25th

The new musical features a book written by the TV series' creator Garry Marshall. Music and Lyrics are by Academy Award-winning composer Paul Williams.
