PAN ASIAN REPERTORY THEATRE continues its 38th Season with a re-imagining of the epic musical, James A. Michener's SAYONARA. This classic story of romance and the power of love to overcome the conflict between two clashing cultures, the US Military and a world-famous all female Takarazuka dance theatre, has a book by William Luce, lyrics by Hy Gilbert, music by George Fischoff, and is adapted from the novel by James A. Michener. Directed by Tisa Chang, with choreography by Rumi Oyama, and musical direction by Sarah Brett England; the production will begin previews on July 5, 2015 and run until July 26, 2015 at the Clurman Theatre at Theatre Row (410 W 42nd Street between 9th and Dyer). The official opening is on Thursday, July 9 at 7:30PM.

STRANGE RAIN follows two reporters as they try to unravel the mystery of a prolonged rain with the aid of lesbian psychics, comic meteorologists, a street-kid poet, and a mysterious man who talks of UFOs and secret experiments in the desert, all leading back decades to the real-life experiments of Wilhelm Reich in the 1950s. The story, though, is not so much about Reich as about deciding what is real and making peace with a difficult past. There are several love stories-central, a boy's love for his father.
On Wednesday, February 27, Pan Asian Repertory Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director Tisa Chang, introduced the cast and creative team of Three Trees, a world premiere production that explores Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti's relationship with his muse, Japanese Existentialist Isaku Yanaihara. In the 2009 Theatre Fans' Choice Awards, sponsored by BroadwayWorld.com, Irena's Vow won a Best Play award and its star, Tovah Feldshuh, took the honor for Best Leading Actress in a Play. Tonight's show (June 4) marks the production's 100th performance on Broadway.
Tovah Feldshuh, playwright Dan Gordon and the cast of 'Irena's Vow' were joined by Broadway luminaries including Lynn Redgrave, and a group of African-American Rabbis headed up by Rabbi Benyamin Ben Levy fr0m Temple Beth Belohim in St. Albans Queen. They all took part in a candlelight ceremony in commemoration of Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) immediately prior to the evening performance of 'Irena's Vow.'
Irena Gut Opdyke, whose courageous story of hiding and ultimately saving Jews during World War II and who is the subject of the current Broadway play, Irena's Vow, was honored posthumously by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) this week for her heroism in risking her life to save others.
