Several shows that were winners or nominees at the 40th anniversary Olivier Awards on Sunday are also recognised this week in the second-annual Also Recognised Awards, in a range of notably different categories. The full list of winners is announced today in this audience-voted, industry accolade set up by theatre commentators Mark Shenton and Terri Paddock to celebrate lesser- known but equally worthy talent in fields overlooked by other awards bodies.

Eden Espinosa to Headline First Bay Area Musicals! Benefit A TWIST OF LIMELIGHT

Bay Area Musicals!, the newest non-profit theatrical organization to join the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area arts community, presents its inaugural benefit fundraiser, A Twist of Limelight, on Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Castro Theatre (429 Castro St) in San Francisco. Stage and screen actress Eden Espinosa (Rent, Wicked, Brooklyn the Musical) - best known for playing Elphaba in the musical Wicked - will give a special performance. Proceeds from the benefit support upcoming productions by Bay Area Musicals!

TACT and GINGOLD THEATRICAL GROUP (David Staller, Founding Artistic Director) are proud to announce that WIDOWERS' HOUSES, the first play ever written by George Bernard Shaw, will be presented in a new production directed by Mr. Staller. WIDOWERS' HOUSES will begin performances on Tuesday, March 1, and open Sunday, March 13 at The Beckett Theatre @ Theatre Row (410 W. 42nd Street, New York, NY 10036).

Theatre composer Scott Alan, who has spent many years working with some of the brightest talents Broadway and the West End, has just announced on his Tumblr that he is taking a leave from songwriting to focus on his personal life. He writes:

After a sold-out, two week residency at The Hippodrome, Scott Alan will play a one-night only farewell concert tonight, October 26th at 8pm at Pizza Express Jazz Club at Kettner's. The concert will feature special guests that will not be announced prior to the concert.

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre presents the Off Broadway premiere of HARD LOVE, the searing 2003 play by Israeli playwright Motti Lerner. This first play of the 2015/16 season -- the company's 23rd -- is directed by TACT Artistic & Executive Director Scott Alan Evans, who most recently directed Beyond Therapy by Christopher Durang. The show is currently playing at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre. The play celebrated its opening last night, October 11th, and performances continue through October 31, 2015.
