The National Alliance For Musical Theatre (NAMT) announced today its selections for the 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals. Beautiful Poison, Cubamor, Great Wall, How To Break, Mary Marie, The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes, String and Stu For Silverton make up the eight new musicals that will be presented at the 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals on Thursday, October 23, 2014 and Friday, October 24, 2014 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

Ordinary Days, an acclaimed new musical by Adam Gwon, brings Round House's 2013/2014 season to a harmonious close as it makes its area premiere. Signature Theatre's Matthew Gardiner makes his Round House directing debut with this Off-Broadway hit by one of musical theater's most exciting new composers. Ordinary Days runs at Round House Theatre Bethesda from May 28 thru June 22. Opening night is Monday, June 2, 2014.

The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company announces Sarah Hammond and Adam Gwon's String as the winner of its eighth annual New Musical Award. Book writer Hammond and composer/lyricist Gwon describe String as 'a musical fable about the three Fates and a fall.' To rehearse, perform and record selections from the new work, Weston has assembled a cast that features Heidi Blickenstaff in the leading role. Blickenstaff (Broadway's The Addams Family, (title of show)) played the role of Diana in Weston's acclaimed 2013 revival of Next To Normal. The cast of String will perform a free public concert at the Weston Playhouse on Saturday March 1 at 8pm.

NYC playwright Eugenie Carabatsos is coming to Columbia at the start of August as her Trustus Playwrights' Festival winning script PINE comes to life on the stage for the first time. This premiere production will have a limited run. PINE opens on the Thigpen Main Stage on August 2nd, at 8:00 p.m. The show runs through August 10, 2013, and tickets may be purchased at www.trustus.org.
