Theater for the New City and INTAR Present HAVANA JOURNAL: 2004, 3/26

Theater for the New City (Crystal Field, Co-Founder and Executive Director) and INTAR (Eduardo Machado, Artistic Director/John McCormack, Executive Director) will present Havana Journal, 2004, a new play by Eduardo Machado, directed by Stefanie Sertich, beginning performances Friday, March 26th and continuing through April 18th only, at Theater for the New City, 155 1st Avenue between 9th and 10th Streets. Opening Night is set for Saturday April 3rd.

Circus Finelli Presents FRAU BACHFEIFENGESICHT’S SPECTACLE OF PERFECTION, 4/2-4/25

San Francisco's all-women clown troupe, Circus Finelli, presents a return limited engagement of its lauded comedy show FRAU BACHFEIFENGESICHT'S SPECTACLE OF PERFECTION. Featuring live music and clowning inspired by European circus and American vaudeville, FRAU BACHFEIFENGESICHT'S SPECTACLE OF PERFECTION is a one-of-a-kind circus comedy experience performed by four of the Bay Area's most talented clown artists (Luz Gaxiola, Mahsa Matin, Molly Shannon, and Verka Zaskodna).

AMERICAN IDIOT Garners 12 SF Critics Circle Noms.

This year's Critics Circle Awards, sponsored by Actor's Equity Association, today announced is nominees for excellence in San Francisco Bay area theater. Berkeley Rep's production of American Idiot, which played in the fall of 2009, leads with 12 nominations and will open on Broadway this spring.

Marin Theatre Company Presents SUNLIGHT, 1/21-4/14, 2010

Marin Theatre Company will produce the world premiere of its 2009 Sky Cooper New American Play Prize winner, Sunlight by Sharr White, January 21 through February 14, 2010. In addition to the Sky Cooper Prize, Sunlight has garnered substantial national recognition. Following MTC's premiere, this searing political thriller will be produced at three other theaters as part of a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere-Arts West in Seattle, Phoenix Theatre in Indianapolis, and New Jersey Rep.

Carpenter and Grassle Lead Aurora Theatre's JOHN GABRIEL BORKMAN, 4/8-5/9

Aurora Theatre Company continues its 18th season with Henrik Ibsen's rarely-produced masterwork JOHN GABRIEL BORKMAN, in a new version by David Eldridge. Aurora Theatre Company founding Artistic Director Barbara Oliver, who directed the company's hit production of Ibsen's The Master Builder, returns to helm this fiercely relevant drama, featuring Bay Area stage veteran James Carpenter (The Master Builder) in the title role, and stage and television actress Karen Grassle (Little House on the Prairie) in her Aurora debut.

San Francisco Mime Troupe Leads Street-Theater Workshop

Founded in 1959, the San Francisco Mime Troupe creates and produces socially relevant theater; their work is political satire and anything but silent. Recently, as part of their 50th anniversary celebration, the Troupe led it's first 'Anti-Capitalist, Anti-Consumption' street-theater workshop in downtown San Francisco outside of the Old Navy store on Market Street.

Tony-Winning San Francisco Mime Troupe Revives 'GHOSTS'

As part of the San Francisco Mime Troupe 50th Anniversary Exhibition Birthday Bash at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the Mime Troupe will revive GHOSTS, seen only once at the December 1981 opening of the Moscone Center, adjacent to Yerba Buena. The revival features several members of the original cast, including Arthur Holden, Dan Chumley, and Lonnie Ford in their 1981 roles, and will be followed by music, and anniversary toasts and roasts. The evening begins at 7:30pm, Thursday, December 10 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Forum, and is free and open to the public.
