Playwrights Horizons announced the appointment of Liz Fallon Culp as the institution's new Director of Development. Ms. Culp joins the acclaimed theater company direct from New York Public Radio (WNYC/WQXR), where she served as the Senior Director of Major Gifts and Legacy Giving. She began with the theater company this month, leading its seven-person Development department.
The American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theater School Institute for Advanced Theater Training, in partnership with Playwrights of New York (PoNY), presents Samuel D. Hunter's (2014 MacArthur Genius Grant Recipient) comedy, A Bright New Boise, directed by Marcus Stern. Playwrights Horizons announced today that their New York premiere production of the acclaimed new play Bootycandy, written and directed by Obie Award winner Robert O'Hara, would extend an additional week. The production is the season opener of the theater company's 2014/2015 Season. After opening on Wednesday, September 10, the limited engagement -- originally scheduled to play through Sunday, October 12 -- will now play through Sunday, October 19 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

In June, Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announced a national call for three-minute monologues held in conjunction with the world premiere of Our War, a dynamic new theatrical event and collection of short stories by 25 esteemed playwrights that explores--through diverse perspectives--the historical memory and present-day reverberations of the U.S. Civil War. The open monologue contest inspired by Our War brought in more than 150 entries from around the world, and the theater is pleased to announce the three winning monologues: Tree by Dave Lankford of New York, NY; Mary/Marcus by Sarah Pitard of London, UK; and The Peacock's War by Lisa Sillaway of Wichita, KS.

After a national search, Playwrights Horizons announced today the appointment of Kyle Sircus as the institution's new Director of Marketing. Beginning Monday, September 22, Mr. Sircus will join the acclaimed theater company direct from Berkeley Repertory Theatre in Berkeley, CA, where he currently serves as Marketing Manager, a position created especially for him in July 2012. Mr. Sircus will lead the theater company's seven-person Marketing Department.
