The New York Times reports that the upcoming Goodman Theater double bill of Eugene O'Neill's 'Hughie' and Samuel Beckett's 'Krapp's Last Tape,' both starring Brian Dennehy and directed by Robert Falls and Canadian director Jennifer Tarver and will come to Broadway. The two plays had been expected on Broadway next season, but now it's official according to The Times. The production, which will open first at the Goodman Theater in Chicago in January, will start performances on Broadway the week of April 12, 2010, at a theater to be announced.

Goodman Theatre proudly concludes its 2008/2009 season with José Rivera's newest play, Boleros for the Disenchanted, 'an epic study of wedded life that is simply?and not so simply?marvelous' (Variety). A true love story inspired by Rivera's parents' courtship and eventual migration from Puerto Rico to Alabama, Boleros for the Disenchanted makes its Chicago premiere directed by Henry Godinez?the Goodman's Resident Artistic Associate who was named 2008 Latino of the Year by the Chicago Latino Network. Chicago actors Elizabeth Ledo and Sandra Marquez command the stage in the role of Flora, based on Rivera's mother, at various points in her life. Godinez's cast also includes Liza Fernandez, Joe Minoso, Rene Rivera and Felix Solis. Boleros for the Disenchanted is performed in English in the Albert Theatre June 20 ? July 26, 2009. Seattle's ACT (A Contemporary Theatre) presents Richard Dresser's take on corporate drudgery with 'Below the Belt'. Starring TV and stage comedy veteran Judd Hirsch, they are billing this as 'The Office' meets Samuel Beckett. But it plays more like a cliché sitcom than a social commentary.

Wendy Kesselman's 'The Black Monk', which ran Off-Broadway from November 30th, 2008 through January 3rd, 2009, featuring Austin Pendleton, Elon Rutberg, Julie Craig, and Scott Robertson - under the direction of Kevin Newbury and musical direction of Chris Berg (with cellist Arthur Cook), will be making an original cast recording on Monday, May 25th, 2009. The album will be produced/engineered by Grammy Award winner John Kilgore. It will be released online in the fall exclusively on iTunes, and a record deal is pending.
