What happens two years later, when the media leaves and the milk cartons fade, for the grieving mother of a kidnapped child? What next for a 42-year-old linguist who discovers her unborn baby may never be able to speak? What dream do immigrants actually find in America? Next Iteration Theater Company explores all this and more in the 2nd Annual Intercultural Play Reading Series.
Next Iteration Theater Company (NITC) presents its 2nd Annual Intercultural Play Reading Series featuring three plays over three nights at the MATCH. The event begins on Thursday evening, May 11th with Lauren Yee's comedic drama, In A Word. Chinese American playwright, Yee, has recently received the Francesca Primus Prize for In A Word. The play uses grief and comedy to tell the story of Fiona on the second anniversary after her young son has disappeared. As the character tries to make sense of it all, she delves into the memories of that chaotic day and takes us with her.
BECKY SHAW explores the eternal ins and outs of personal relationships. It asks the basic questions: to whom do we owe loyalty, and at what cost? How do we set limits, and how do we abide by them? What are the consequences if we don't?
Becky Shaw follows a newlywed couple who fixes up two romantically challenged friends: wife's best friend, meet husband's sexy and strange new co-worker.

If you love absurd little satires, whimsical period pieces, and female-centric art (or you just have a healthy, if unusual, appreciation for the egg), then 5 LESBIANS EATING A QUICHE is for you.
After recently concluding its 2015 Cabaret Trilogy, Boiling Point Players Theatre prepares for its main stage production of 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche by Andrew Hobgood and Evan Linder. This delicious drama, winner of the 2012 NYC International Fringe Festival for Best Overall Production, spotlights five fascinating females of the Susan B. Anthony Society for the Sisters of Gertrude Stein, a group of widows who together celebrate feminism and their united savor of quiche. When the sisters assemble in 1956 for their annual quiche-tasting competition, they encounter issues amongst and around themselves, challenging the foundations of their lives, their society, and the world as they know it. Bringing comedy, tragedy and excitement to the stage, 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche promises a dynamic experience for its captive audiences.

Before VENUS IN FURS was a twinkle in David Ives' eye, there was ALL IN THE TIMING, a collection of one-act plays with a range of subjects and themes - all funny and entertaining. How else do you describe a mix of Trotsky and The Honeymooners? Though the collection of plays premiered Off-Broadway in 1993, and a few were written before I was born, they are still side-splitting. In disbelief? Well, take a gander at this interview with Paige Kiliany, a twenty-something who prefers ALL IN THE TIMING to Saturday Night Live. How's that for current?
